About Jebel Ali
Once known as a satellite district and sometimes also called Mina Jebel Ali, is a continuously growing region in Dubai that is slowly rising in significance. Jebel Ali is also especially important for the industrial life in Dubai as it is primarily a large commercial port and business hub located on the outskirts of the city. It is the largest marine port in the Middle East and the ninth busiest port in the world. It also holds the world’s largest man-made harbour. The Jebel Ali Free Zone, also known as Jafza, which houses over 7,000 companies that are active in trade, logistics, manufacturing and a range of different industrial and service sectors.
The importance of the area is only growing, and a significant part of the growth is also seen in tourism with the beautiful resorts that it has. It is also home to Palm Jebel Ali which is one among the trio of artificial islands built in the form of a palm, the construction of which is currently on hold. The district is also home to diving centres and a golf resort.

The community of Jebel Ali is continuously growing with several new developments being brought to the region. Although it is a heavily industrialised district, there are some residential regions within and around the community such as Jebel Ali Village and Discovery Gardens. Within the district, there is the Veneto community developed by Nakheel that features an enormous collection of luxury townhouses and villas. Downtown Jebel Ali is a much-anticipated development for the area that is yet to be built and is expected to house an impressive collection of hotels, apartments, offices and retail.

There are a handful of mosques spread across different areas in the district. There is Masjid Ruqaya, Masjid Handalath bin Abi Umar and a few others in the Jebel Ali Industrial Area. There is also the beautiful Jebel Ali Beach Masjid and New East Accommodation Mosque outside that area along with several others. For those who follow other faiths, the Gurunanak Darbar Sikh Gurudwara in the Jebel Ali Village which may take anywhere between 15 to 25-minutes to reach depending on which part of this large district you are living in. There are also several churches in the same area right across from the temple. You can find the United Christian Church of Dubai, Dubai Mar Thoma Church, St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church and more which will take you around 25-minutes to reach from most parts of the community.

You can get most of your shopping needs fulfilled from the Jebel Ali Mall. For a fancier mall, you can reach Ibn Battuta Mall in the Jebel Ali Village area just under 25-minutes from most points in the district.
There is also the fairly new shopping and leisure destination in a quaint village theme developed by Meraas, The Outlet Village located just next to Dubai Parks and Resorts. It is a Tuscan-themed space packed with luxury brands at highly discounted prices. From high-end Italian stores and classic French fashion to several American brands and quirkier labels, there are more than 500 brands in The Outlet Village, all at affordable prices.

When it comes to dining, there is an abundance of restaurants in Jebel Ali to meet your tastes along with several cafes and an array of fast-food joints. There aren’t any known conventional parks in Jebel Ali. However, some of the epic theme parks in Dubai are just next door at the Dubai Parks & Resorts such as the Bollywood Parks, Motiongate and Legoland Dubai. For other outdoor activities, the SandBox Jebel Ali is a popular favourite destination.
For fitness purposes, you may find several gyms in the nearby Dubai Investment Parks such as Fitness First and Fit4Life. As for beauty salons, there is the Mi Amor, Lengths & Lashes Ladies Beauty Salon and Adel Al Mazrooei gent’s salon. Again, you can find several others in the neighbouring Dubai Investments Park and the Jebel Ali Village both of which may take anywhere between 10 to 30 minutes to reach by car depending upon which part of the large district you are living in.
Residents can also drive down to the Jebel Ali Recreation Club in Jebel Ali Village which is one of the oldest leisure haunts in Dubai that has been recently renovated. You can find some fine dining restaurants and a dine-in cinema by Reel Cinemas here, which is a licensed ventured offering a menu curated by American television personality Guy Fieri.
Things to Consider
Jebel Ali is primarily a vast commercial district and residential areas have only recently started to grow. Thus, you may find that most areas are quite plain and also far from the more happening parts of the city.
