About Jebel Ali
Once known as a satellite district and sometimes also called Mina Jebel Ali, is a continuously growing region in Dubai that is slowly rising in significance. Jebel Ali is also especially important for the industrial life in Dubai as it is primarily a large commercial port and business hub located on the outskirts of the city. In fact, it is the largest marine port in the Middle East and the ninth busiest port in the world. It also holds the world’s largest man-made harbour. The Jebel Ali Free Zone, also known as Jafza, which houses over 7,000 companies that are active in trade, logistics, manufacturing and a range of different industrial and service sectors.
The importance of the area is only growing, and a significant part of the growth is also seen in tourism with the beautiful resorts that it has. It is also home to Palm Jebel Ali which is one among the trio of artificial islands built in the form of a palm, the construction of which is currently on hold. The district is also home to diving centres and a golf resort.

As a prominent industrial hub, the properties in Jebel Ali are mostly warehouses and labour camps. However, there are also several residential apartments and villas that you can find. If you are considering moving to this slowly rising district of Dubai, you can choose from a range of 3 to 5-bedroom villas for rent. The starting price for these villa rentals in Jebel Ali is at around AED 130k per year and rise up to around AED 180k per year.
If you are looking for apartments in Jebel Ali, there are some good collections to choose from for both renting and buying according to your choice. The sale prices for the apartments in Jebel Ali usually starts from AED 430k for studios, whereas the rental trends usually start at a price of AED 35k for studios.
Transportation and Parking Spaces in Jebel Ali
When it comes to public transportation, you can find good choices of bus routes going towards several areas of the city such as Al Karama, Lulu Village, Gold Souq Bus Station, Al Ghubaiba Bus Station and more. Hailing taxi cabs in Jebel Ali is not a lot of trouble either.
The district is also where the red line of Dubai Metro currently ends. There are two metro stations for residents of Jebel Ali; Danube and UAE Exchange. However, they are currently not in service, because the extension of the metro line is under construction for the Expo 2020.
As for parking spaces, finding one isn’t a hurdle. Most residential buildings also offer dedicated parking spaces for the residents.

Supermarkets in Jebel Ali
There are a number of supermarkets in Jebel Ali for your regular grocery shopping while living here.
You can find Meena Centre FZE, Nesto Hypermarket and Village Hypermarket near Jebel Ali Freezone. There is Sultan Hypermarket at the opposite side. Jebel Ali Industrial Area has a good collection of supermarkets; you can choose from New Parco Supermarket, Malabar Supermarket, Salam Al Madeena Supermarket, Zabeel Oasis Supermarket and more.
Churches, Temples and Mosques in Jebel Ali
There are a handful of mosques spread across different areas in the district. There is Masjid Ruqaya, Masjid Handalath bin Abi Umar and a few others in the Jebel Ali Industrial Area. There is also the beautiful Jebel Ali Beach Masjid and New East Accommodation Mosque outside that area along with several others.
For those who follow other faiths, the Gurunanak Darbar Sikh Gurudwara is in the neighbouring Jebel Ali Village which may take anywhere between 15 to 25 minutes to reach depending on which part of this large district you are living in. There are also several churches in the same area right across from the temple. You can find the United Christian Church of Dubai, Dubai Mar Thoma Church, St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church and more which will take you around 25 minutes to reach from most parts of the community.
Schools in Jebel Ali
Little Woods is a nursery that you can find in Jebel Ali. There also some primary schools or nurseries in Jebel Ali Village such as Hamilton Primary School, Bubbles & Giggles Nursery and Jebel Ali Village Nursery. There is also a ballet school here called Harmony Ballet & Music Centre.
For schools, there are a variety of options in the nearby Jebel Ali Village and Dubai Investment Park. The Winchester School (UK curriculum) and Delhi Private School (Indian curriculum) are popular schools, there is also the Greenfield Community School (IB system) in Dubai Investment Park.
For photo enthusiasts, there is the Nikon School Dubai that provides a series of courses aiming to enhance the technical and creative skills of photographers. Older students can head to one of the universities part of the Knowledge Village complex, roughly 20 minutes from the area.

When it comes to healthcare facilities, there are several clinics and hospitals to be found nearby. There is the Cedars Jebel Ali International Hospital, LiveCare Clinic, a branch of Aster Clinic and more similar clinics in close proximity.
Top Areas in Jebel Ali
The Jebel Ali Industrial Area is unsurprisingly the most popular and widely searched for area in this district. Just as the name suggests, it houses industrial properties such as warehouses and labour camps. The next most popular area is the Jebel Ali Free Zone although much lesser than the former, which is then closely followed by the Garden View Villas.
The enormous Jebel Ali starts right after Jebel Ali Village and has Dubai Investments Park on its adjacent side. It is also next to Al Maktoum International Airport and close to the phenomenal Dubai Parks & Resorts that is home to some exhilarating theme parks such as the Hollywood inspired Motiongate Dubai.
SHOPPING, DINING AND NIGHTLIFE
Malls in Jebel Ali
You can get most of your shopping needs fulfilled from the Jebel Ali Mall. For a fancier mall, you can reach Ibn Battuta Mall in the Jebel Ali Village area just under 25 minutes from most points in the district.
There is also the fairly new shopping and leisure destination in a quaint village theme developed by Meraas, The Outlet Village located just next to Dubai Parks and Resorts. It is a Tuscan-themed space packed with luxury brands at highly discounted prices. From high-end Italian stores and classic French fashion to several American brands and several more quirkier labels, there are more than 500 brands in The Outlet Village, all at affordable prices.
Restaurants in Jebel Ali
When it comes to dining, there is an abundance of restaurants in Jebel Ali to meet your tastes along with several cafes and an array of fast food joints. You can find your calling from the Mezban Hyderabad Restaurant, Pepper House Restaurant, Qasr Al Jabal Restaurant, Aziz Afghan Restaurant, Pret to Go and several others.
Some of the cafes you can find are Costa Coffee, Lounge Café, Artisan Café, Caribou Coffee and more. And some of the fast food joints you can find are a McDonald’s Drive Through, KFC, Marrybrown, and others.
Beaches in Jebel Ali
For the ones that love some coastal fun, there is the Jebel Ali Open Beach. It is located in between the private beach of Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa and the Lama Beach Club. The beach can only be reached by car and is known for being a suitable place for windsurfing and kitesurfing. The beach is found to be suitable for quite a range of things such from a quiet family gathering around BBQ or for wild jet-ski adventure.
Leisure Activities and Notable Landmarks
The JA Jebel Ali Beach Hotel is a 5-star beachfront resort overlooking the Gulf shores. This excellent award-winning Dubai property features a private marina and lush hotel gardens. Creating a luxury family getaway, the resort provides, along with its palm-lined beach, several other amenities. You can find two swimming pools, a decadent spa, several bars and restaurants, children’s entertainment clubs and sports facilities. There is also the fantastic JA Jebel Ali Golf Resort featuring a standard 9-hole par 36 course with exciting challenges and beautiful scenery.
Another one of the notable landmarks is the second of the wondrous man-made islands by Nakheel, Palm Jebel Ali, which has been on hold in its construction.
Outdoor activities, fitness and beauty
There aren’t any known conventional parks in Jebel Ali. However, some of the epic theme parks in Dubai are just next door at the Dubai Parks & Resorts such as the Bollywood Parks, Motiongate and Legoland Dubai. For other outdoor activities the SandBox Jebel Ali is a popular favourite destination.
For fitness purposes, you may not a find any gyms in Jebel Ali. However, you can find several gyms in the nearby Dubai Investment Parks such as Fitness First and Fit4Life. As for beauty salons, there is the Mi Amor, Lengths & Lashes Ladies Beauty Salon and Adel Al Mazrooei gent’s salon. Again, you can find several others in the neighbouring Dubai Investments Park and the Jebel Ali Village both of which may take anywhere between 10 to 30 minutes to reach by car depending upon which part of the large district you are living in.
Residents can also drive down to the Jebel Ali Recreation Club in Jebel Ali Village which is one of the oldest leisure haunts in Dubai that has been recently renovated. You can find some fine dining restaurants and a dine-in cinema by Reel Cinemas here, which is a licensed ventured offering a menu curated by American television personality Guy Fieri.
Things to Consider
Jebel Ali is primarily a vast commercial district and residential areas have only recently started to grow. Thus, you may find that most areas are quite plain and also far from the more happening parts of the city.
- Dubai International Airport may take up to a little more than 40 minutes away.
- You may have to drive around 35 to 40 minutes to reach Downtown Dubai.
- Sheikh Zayed Road may take anywhere between 15 to 20 minutes to get to.
- Dubai Parks and Resorts is 10 minutes away.
