ABOUT AL MOWAIHAT
Al Mowaihat is a community located towards the south of Ajman, near the Sharjah – Ajman border. The area is commonly called just Mowaihat, Ajman.
The community is divided into three sectors which are Al Mowaihat 1, Al Mowaihat 2 and Al Mowaihat 3. One of the defining features of this community is that to its immediate west, is the Al Tallah community.
One unique aspect of this community is that it is still under development. In other words, this is a community in the making with many new projects underway. Apart from that, it has one of the lowest rents in Ajman which makes it a popular area. To the west of Al Mowaihat, you will find Ajman Industrial Area 1 and Industrial Area 2. To the north of Mowaihat 1 is the community of Al Rawda.

Churches, Temples and Mosques in Al Mowaihat
You will not find any churches in Al Mowaihat. However, there is one church in Ajman and a few others in the neighbouring emirate of Sharjah. The one which is in Ajman is the Winners Chapel International Ajman in Al Rashidiya 1, 15 minutes away. The churches in Sharjah are found in the community of Al Yarmook. Here you will find 10 to 15 churches, roughly 20 minutes away from Al Muaihat.
The temples in Bur Dubai can be reached in 40 minutes or so. The Sikh gurudwaras are also located in Bur Dubai near the Dubai Museum. Moving on, as it is true with most communities in the UAE, one can find a mosque on every block. Likewise, the same is true with mosques in Al Mowaihat. There are several small community mosques in the area, but the largest one is the Masjid Jami’a Al Tauheed.

To the south of the border of Al Muwaihat is the community of Al Tallah which is also home to the Al Tallah Camel Race Course. Al Tallah is also a community with at least 11 schools within its border.
If residents drive south, they will find themselves in Sharjah as this emirate is quite close to Al Mowaihat. To the west, there is the Ajman Industrial area. Moving on, to its east, is the community of Al Yasmeen where residents will find Helio Park which is very popular with residents.

Malls in Al Mowaihat
There is a small community mall in Al Mowaihat 3 called Nazir Plaza. It is located on the border between Sharjah and Ajman, technically only a third of the mall lies in Al Mowaihat but it is only reachable from the Ajman side. Nazir Plaza has a Grand Mart Hypermarket, a furniture store called New Al Dhaid Furniture and a few other stores. Nazir Plaza also has a car wash area where residents can get a thorough wash-down of their vehicles.
City Life Al Tallah is a larger mall near Al Mowaihat, 7 minutes away. It has a Carrefour hypermarket, many retail outlets and multiple dining establishments. Shrooq Plaza is a popular shopping destination in Ajman to purchase the traditional Arabian garment for women called abayas. It has many garment shops that offer customisation services as well.
Restaurants in Al Mowaihat
There are several restaurants near and within the community. You will find casual dining restaurants or cafeterias nearby which are popular as a place to grab a quick bite to eat. Popular cafeterias in Al Mowaihat include Al Marsa, Antar Cafeteria and Doner Basha Cafeteria.
Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Street separates Muwaihat 1 and Muwaihat 2. It is commonly known as a ‘food street’ due to the number of restaurants located along the road. Popular restaurants in Mowaihat include the Hiba Restaurant, Arab eatery On The Wood, Japanese restaurant Sushi Bar and for desserts you can visit Ice Storm and Raspberry Shake.
There are a few fast-food restaurants located in the petrol pumps in the area. Other restaurants can be found in the City Life Al Tallah mall which is a short drive away from Al Mwaihat.
BEACHES NEAR AL MOWAIHAT
Ajman has its fair share of beaches, as it is with all the emirates. Accordingly, one of the most visited beaches in Ajman is the Corniche, it is 20 minutes away. The beach has many shaded walkways, a sheltered tidal pool and a 4-kilometre promenade. Many 5-star hotels are also located along Ajman Corniche.
Al Zorah Beach is a popular beach near Al Mowaihat, it lies at a distance of 25 minutes. Visitors here come to swim, boat, fish, kayak, camp or have a barbecue in front of the ocean. No matter the reason, going to Al Zorah Beach in Ajman can be a refreshing and uplifting experience.
LEISURE ACTIVITIES AND NOTABLE LANDMARKS
There are some interesting areas within the emirate of Ajman that are not too far away. For example, an exciting place worth visiting is Al Zorah, it features many 5-star beach resorts, a wellness centre, a marina, a promenade and Ajman’s first golf club. Al Zorah and its many amenities and activities are a 25-minute drive away from Al Mowaihat.
Ajman Museum was originally a fort built in the 18th century and was turned into a museum in the 1980s. It is considered to be the largest heritage museum in the UAE with 22 separate sections. It showcases many traditional cultural items and archaeological finds.
Al Wasit Wetland Natural Reserve located in the emirate of Sharjah is 11 minutes away. This natural reserve has mudflats, salty lagoons and freshwater ponds. Accordingly, this attracts a large variety of wildlife such as herons, terns and other aquatic loving flight birds. In all, this area attracts over 60 species of migratory birds. This makes Wasit Wetland Centre a go-to spot for eager bird watchers.
