With a number of retail spaces, shops and offices lined up along the street, it is a busy commercial area. The area that got its name from an old electronic shop has a budget-friendly electronics market with loads of buying and selling opportunities. Thanks to a whole strip of hotels including five-star resorts, Electra Street is well-known among tourists as well.

The residential community of Electra Street mostly consists of uptown complexes and serviced apartment buildings. It also has rental hotel apartments in Abu Dhabi, these properties are constructed with 5-star amenities to meet high standards of living and serviced by the hotel itself. Since the locality doesn’t offer any freehold properties, there are only rental options around here.
With a wide range of accommodation options, the flats for rent on Electra Street come in various one to four bedroom configurations. Studio flats are usually the preferred choice for working professionals as they offer convenience and affordability. Similarly, 1-bed and 2BHK apartments for rent are an ideal choice for youngsters and couples who want to enjoy a roomier living space. There aren’t any public buses at the moment but the locals catch the frequently scheduled buses on the bus stations just off the street on Sheikh Zayed, The First St. These bus routes are only a few minutes walk away while a number of private taxis are also available.
As it is a crowded area finding a parking space can be a bit tricky. Residents in the apartment buildings on Electra Street have one reserved parking space within the building, visitors and those with more than one car will have to find street parking. The street parking, however, is limited and in high demand due to the shops alongside the road. On the brighter side, this problem won't be an issue for very long since the Abu Dhabi Government has already planned for a parking lot to be constructed in Navy Gate just opposite Electra Street that will soon resolve the issue.

SUPERMARKETS ON ELECTRA STREET
When it comes to grocery shopping, the residents head out towards LuLu Express and Al Safa Supermarket located on Hamdan Bin Mohammed Street only 5-minutes away. There’s also a good number of stores alongside the residential street including Abu Dhabi Co-operative Society, that has all of the items you expect from a hypermarket. Al Adil Trading Co. is also a popular ethnic supermarket where you can get Indian spices and condiments.
CHURCHES, TEMPLES AND MOSQUES ON ELECTRA STREET
Like any other region of Abu Dhabi, there are several mosques in Electra Street. The closest ones are Afra Bint Ahmad Mosque and Mohammad Bin Darwaish Mosque. The Christian community living on Electra Street can visit Cornerstone International Church on Al Reem Island via Hamdan Street within 10 minutes. There aren’t any Hindu temples in the community, however, the Sikh New Gurudwara is accessible via a 30-minute drive across Al Shahama Road.

There are various educational institutes on Electra Street for students of all ages. Al Muna Academy by Aldar Academies is a reputable elementary school for primary and foundation stages. GEMS World Academy located in Fatima Bint Mubarak Street offers an international standard of education for primary pupils. Other notable institutes include Knowledge Planet preferred for tests and entrance exam preparations and Nadia Training Institute for specialization programs like Digital Marketing. Some art schools are also close to Electra Street such as Golden Musical Arts Institute and Classic Music & Arts Institute.

There are various options when it comes to medical facilities near Electra Street. Adam and Eve Specialized Medical Centre is located near the Royal Rose Hotel with proper emergency units and trained staff. A number of opticians and dental clinics are also dotted along the roadside including Al Dana Medical and Dental Centre, Kattan Opticians, and Hikma Medical Center in Hamdan Street.
At about a 17-minute walking distance, next to Electra Street is Hamdan Street, another busy road in the capital with similar commercial spaces and apartment buildings. The residential community of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street is located at a 10-minute drive next to Al Khalidiyah.

Foodies shouldn’t worry at all as Electra Street is loaded with various eateries and restaurants. Select Rabie Restaurant behind LuLu Express is a much loved Indian cuisine spot while Taboon Pastries is famous for its Lebanese food. Other good choices include Chicken Street, Dragon Bao Bao Cafeteria and Majlis Grand Mercure with rooftop dining. Asian Garden Restaurant is popular for delivering Thai, Chinese, and Filipino cuisines to the doorstep. Not to mention the many international fast food outlets that have branches open on Electra Street.
BEACHES NEAR ELECTRA STREET
The unspoiled beach of Abu Dhabi is at a short drive distance from the residential community of Electra Street. So you can expect majestic views from the windows and balconies. Al Sahil Beach in Corniche is also a perfect get-away for many where you can sit and vent for hours. The best part about picnics on the Corniche Beach is that you can put all of your worries away as your kids play in sand and sea. The water levels are marked safe and the beach has professional lifeguards.

Electra Park, the absolute charm of the locality attracts families and youngsters alike. A huge grassy outdoor area with separate children’s play areas and basketball grounds. Many community events are often held in the park involving families from nearby communities. Al Ittihad Square, Mamsha Al Khair, and Roundabout Monument are the highlighted landmarks near Electra Street that keep the history of Abu Dhabi alive.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES, FITNESS AND BEAUTY
For most of the locals and tourists, outdoor activities in Abu Dhabi involve loads of shopping sprees. But if your idea of a perfect evening involves quality time with family, you can enjoy a mini picnic on the roadside family parks. These recreational parks and playgrounds also have trimmed garden areas and jogging tracks while a number of fitness clubs and gyms can be found on the street such as Lifeline Wellness with separate swimming pools. A whole cluster of salons are located around the residential buildings, for both men and women, including Coral Beauty Lounge, Headline Gents Salon, ES Salon, Star Chic Beauty Center, etc.
There aren’t any community events particularly hosted around here as most of the street is used for commercial spaces. The Qasr Al Hosn Festival is held every year at the fort featuring live music and dance performances to pay tribute to the traditional Arabic culture that is a part of the United Arab Emirates. People from around the communities visit the festival to take part in the celebrations and view the special performances.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
Electra Street is a relatively affordable area and a haven for the expat community due to a great number of apartments for rent. But if you’re more drawn towards private villas, it might not be the location for you. It is close to many villa communities such as Al Khalidiya and Al Mushrif.
