Why the International School of Choueifat Sharjah?

The curriculum followed by ISC makes it a unique educational institution. It is affiliated with the SABIS Education – a global education network with schools in over 20 countries and five continents. All SABIS Schools, including the International School of Choueifat Sharjah, follow the SABIS Educational Programme. It is a highly modified version of the National Curriculum of the UK that requires memorised learning techniques for success. The educational programme has undergone several modifications since its inception and optimises students’ experience of the real world.

All the ISC Schools throughout the world, including ISC Sharjah, have high-end academic facilities at the campus. All the facilities ensure that students experience the best learning environment. Availability of interactive screens, well-equipped ITL halls and science laboratories are few of the high-end facilities to be named at the campus. The school also ensures students are exposed to non-curricular activities. Thus, the school also added some sports and outdoor facilities at its campus.

Another strength of this school making it an attractive option is its inclusive admission policy. The school has a non-selective admission policy that is suitable for a multinational student force. Students from different national backgrounds are part of this educational institution. Additionally, candidates that are behind other students in terms of academic progress are given additional support. ISC Sharjah offers two unique solutions: special lessons and full special classes, to bridge the learning gap.

International School of Choueifat (ISC) Sharjah Curriculum

The International School of Choueifat (ISC) Sharjah follows the SABIS Education Programme for its syllabus. It is a specifically designed educational programme that is dynamic, high-academic and non-selective. The SABIS curriculum is a highly modified version of the National Curriculum of the United Kingdom delivered in English. The programme specifically focuses on developing students’ skills and personality to suit the challenges faced in the modern world. Additionally, the curriculum teaches high moral, ethical and civic values to students to make them an active member of the society.

The unique curriculum of ISC Sharjah revolves around three steps. The first step of the SABIS Education Programme is class teaching. In this step, the structured lectures are delivered in a classroom environment using high-end school facilities. The structured approach allows teachers to evaluate students’ understanding. One concept is delivered at a time and the lecture is divided into oral work, individual work and group work. The progress is assessed using the SABIS Point System. Such a system aims to ensure that students learn the most in the classroom and spend the after-school hours enjoying and exploring the world around them.

The second step deals with the teaching and monitoring of students’ progress. Usually, the written assessments are assessed to track students’ progress as per the Students Learning Objectives (SLOs).

The third step is the students’ follow-up. Students that failed to progress as expected receive academic and moral support. This involves special educational programmes, such as special lessons and full special classes to meet the expected levels.

The school also has a computerised system, called the SABIS AMS, to identify the gaps in knowledge of a students’ journey at the International School of Choueifat (ISC) Sharjah. Gaps are pinpointed as soon as identified and teachers work their way with the student to bridge the gap.

For more information, check out ISC Sharjah’s approach to education.

Distance Learning

The government of Dubai has mandated schools to offer distance learning provisions in addition to in-class learning, especially in the first phase of reopening. Distance learning format might differ from school to school and term to term, but students opting for this model will be kept updated on the curriculum followed.
