DUBAI SPORTS WORLD – a top choice to stay active during summer in dubai
It makes sense to start our list on how to stay active during summer in Dubai with Dubai Sports World – an absolutely enormous sports facility which takes over the Sheikh Saeed Halls at the Dubai World Trade Centre every year. You would be hard pushed to find a sport that is not available at this mammoth venue. There is a host of summer activities in Dubai on offer here, from running around a specially marked out running track, football, cricket, gymnastics, rugby, tennis, badminton, ping pong, volleyball and a Ninja Warrior obstacle course and more. With that lot on offer, there’s no excuse not to keep moving this summer. There are also tournaments and events to enter throughout the season to give you some motivation to sharpen your skills.
What they say: “If you’re passionate about sports, then this is where you belong. For three months, Dubai Sports World packs the globe’s favourite sports into the emirate’s largest indoor sports venue.”

Fees: The running track is free. Other fees vary during peak and off peak hours, starting from as little as AED 10 per hour for ping pong, AED 30 for a badminton court and up to AED 280 off peak for a football pitch.

UNITED PRO SPORTS
United Pro Sports is another indoor sports venue offering plenty of activities to stay active during summer in Dubai. It offers some of the best opportunities to play indoor cricket in Dubai, and a range of activities, including nets practice, five and six-a-side football, volleyball, basketball. Coaching is available, although the season’s schedule is yet to be announced, but pitch and court rentals are available for teams wishing to keep their skills on point during the hot summer months.

Location: First Abu Dhabi Bank is the closest Metro station, parking is available in the vicinity.

HAMDAN SPORTS COMPLEX
The Hamdan Sports Complex offers Olympic standard swimming and diving facilities in a state-of-the-art sports complex, all indoors and fully temperature controlled, meaning no worries about burning feet on hot tiles or sunburn during your regular swim session. This is no place to sit and have a leisurely chat to your friends in the shallow end, but a place to rack up some serious kilometres. Those with long hair will need to remember to bring a swimming cap, but it’s well worth it to have the opportunity to swim in a pool that frequently hosts international race meets. There is also options for badminton and ping pong on site, as well as a gym, sauna and jacuzzi, giving you plenty of options to stay active during summer in Dubai.

It might feel all wrong doing snow and ice-based sports when it’s nudging 50C outside, but in a way it makes perfect sense, as you can spruce up your skills in time for a winter break, and it is a great way to stay active during summer in Dubai. As a place with some of the highest temperatures on earth, it’s perhaps no surprise that some of the favourite activities for summer in Dubai are among the coolest in terms of temperature.
Ski Dubai needs no introduction – it is Dubai’s famous indoor snow dome that offers a host of chilly activities for children and adults, but its main business is of course skiing and snowboarding. One of the best things about the venue is that you can turn up empty-handed, as you can rent all the gear you will need on site. You can choose from private lessons and group lessons, and and kids tuition is available too if you fancy taking the family along too. DUBAI ICE RINK
If you have ever imagined yourself pirouetting across a gleaming white ice rink but never quite found your skating feet, summer 2018 could be the time to get in some practice at The Dubai Mall’s Dubai Ice Rink. Public sessions are available for you to turn up, rent some skates and simply head out on the ice, and you will find plenty of other attractions to keep you occupied in the mall once you are done with your skating session. You can also book private lessons, depending on availability.

THE GALLERIA ICE RINK
The Galleria, located at the Hyatt Regency, is another great place to hone your ice skating skills, with both private lessons and public sessions available, and has been recently renovated. You can also book yourself private lessons.

BOXING AND MARTIAL ARTS
ROUND 10 BOXING
Boxing is about an awful lot more than punching someone. Agility, speed, intuition and fitness are all attributes that go towards creating a great boxer. The need to develop all of these skills means boxing is fantastic training for people who want to get some exercise and learn a new skill. Round 10 Boxing, which has outlets in Al Quoz and Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) offers classes for both men and women, not just straightforward sparring but boxing circuits, cardio, kettlebell training and beat boxing – a high intensity workout class for women which sets punch combinations to hiphop music.

TEAM NOGUEIRA DUBAI
Another Al Quoz-based gym, this time in Al Quoz 2, Team Nogueira offers a range of martial arts activities, from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts, Muay Thai, Boxing, Judo, Akido, Karate and last but not least, circuit training.

PALAIS DE DANSE
Looking for a slightly different way to stay active during summer in Dubai? Ever watched Strictly Come Dancing or Dancing With The Stars and thought “I could do better than that”? Well, your chance to learn some professional couples moves is close at hand with Palais De Danse. Ballroom dancing is not only great exercise, it’s a chance to do something together as a couple. ARTHUR MURRAY DANCE CENTERS

Whether you are preparing for your first dance at your wedding or just want to have some fun and learn some new dance techniques, Arthur Murray could be the studio for you.
