Enjoy fun family adventures at the fantastic Sharjah Safari
Take the family on an unforgettable trip to Sharjah Safari, the largest safari park outside Africa. Spread across 8,000 hectares, it offers close encounters with incredible wildlife, including giraffes, lions and the rare black rhinoceros. Nestled within Al Bridi Nature Reserve in Al Dhaid, the park recreates Africa’s landscapes and brings to life the continent’s rich biodiversity. Let’s dive into everything you need to know about this remarkable destination.
ABOUT THE PARK
Sharjah Desert Safari Park is home to more than 1,000 animals and birds from over 120 species, including lions, gazelles, elephants, crocodiles and other rare African wildlife. One of the most notable attractions at Desert Safari Park Sharjah is the critically endangered black rhinoceros, along with Wuhaida, a female southern white rhino born right here in the park.

Beyond the impressive wildlife, the landscape is just as captivating. Over 1,000 native and African trees, such as the graceful Samar tree and the iconic Acacia tortilis with its umbrella-shaped canopy, dot the terrain. Spread across eight square kilometres, the vast surroundings of Sharjah Desert Safari Park are nothing short of breathtaking.
Desert Safari Park Sharjah also features a tranquil natural lake surrounded by cafés, restaurants, a conference hall and a safari visitor’s tent, adding comfort to the adventure. With its rich wildlife and scenic beauty, it stands as a remarkable alternative to Dubai Safari.
REGIONS IN THE PARK
There are 12 environments in the park to explore, each depicting a distinct African location and the lives of the native animals and birds. Here are some highlights of the various areas in Sharjah Safari Park, Al Dhaid:
- The first component of the park’s walking tour allows visitors to experience an eclectic array of African birds as they stroll down Baobab Avenue.

- The next stop is the vibrant Zanzibar village, where guests can enjoy tasty eats in an authentic African setting before embarking on their safari adventure.
- Sahel, the second major region in Sharjah Safari Park, is home to deserts, grasslands and a vast range of fauna. It depicts Africa’s vast wildlife-rich corridor between the Sahara Desert and the Savannah regions.
- Visitors continue their trek to the third zone, Savannah. This area is home to a fascinating array of species, including the Scimitar Oryx and Dorcas Gazelle.
- The Serengeti settlement is the next stop. Note that this part of the trip is not for the faint of heart, as only the courageous can take selfies with the Serengeti Lion hidden behind glass. Visitors to the Serengeti will also be able to observe one of Earth’s oldest and most resilient animal species, the mighty crocodile!
- Then we have the Ngorongoro Crater, a unique ecosystem modelled after the largest intact volcanic caldera in the world, and home to some of Africa’s most iconic and rare species, such as black rhinos.
- The last region of the tour is Moremi Village, where friendly animals will come across your path and say their goodbyes.
