According to the announcement by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Palm Jebel Ali is set to undergo a massive transformation.
The move is a part of the government’s plan to double Dubai’s economy by 2033 and the city’s efforts to become an even more popular tourist destination.
In his tweet, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said:
“Dubai is growing and thriving. Today, we announce the new plan for Palm Jebel Ali. Its area is twice that of Palm Jumeirah and its beaches reach 110km.
“Its [Palm Jebel Ali] marine and green pastures will provide housing with the highest quality of life and its visitors and tourists will enjoy more than 80 hotels and resorts that provide beautiful tourist experiences for them and their families.

Palm Jebel Ali will provide opulent beachfront housing and various entertainment and leisure options, which will significantly boost Dubai’s tourism industry.
Images of the project give a general idea of how it would appear when completed. Meanwhile, the Dubai Media Office team has shared the following information about it so far:
- There will be a total of seven interconnected islands.
- It will extend Dubai’s shoreline by 110 kilometres.
- The artificial island will be 13.4 square kilometres, double that of Palm Jumeirah.
- There will be about 35,000 families living there.
- The island will be home to more than 80 hotels, resorts and malls.
- It will generate 30 per cent of its energy from renewable sources.

The artificial island on the coast of Dubai is a work of exceptional engineering and architecture.
