ABOUT DUBAI WATERFRONT
Dubai Waterfront was expected to become the largest man-made development in the world. It is more commonly referred to as just the Waterfront. The project's developer is Dubai Waterfront Company which is a subsidiary of Nakheel Properties.
The original plan was to create a large development featuring commercial, residential, leisure and hospitality spaces. This large project would have been constructed in the shape of a crescent moon with Palm Jebel Ali forming a star, this configuration is commonly seen as an Islamic symbol.
Dubai Waterfront would have been home to over 1.5 million residents. Due to the economic crisis in 2009, Nakheel has since downsized the project and focused on the residential communities of Badrah and Veneto, to begin with, but is open to expanding the project when it gains more popularity in the future.
