ABOUT DISTRICT 11
Located south of Downtown Dubai and Meydan, District 11 (D-11) is a residential community comprising apartments, villas and townhouses. The community lies on the corner of Dubai-Al Ain road and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, and this area is an emerging hub of Dubai. D-11 is part of the master community of Mohammed Bin Rashid City (MBR City), which is one of the biggest mixed-use developments in Dubai. In fact, with current developments in the area, MBR is expected to become the next ‘downtown’ of the emirate.

There are approximately 6,000 residential units in District 11 grouped into different ‘parcels’. These parcels, in turn, are divided into different architectural designs and population densities:
- Parcels C, D and L that lie on the west edge of D-11 (next to Al Ain Road) are planned as medium density apartments
- Parcels A, B, E and J have low-density villas located towards the east of D-11
- Parcel A, commonly known as Meydan Heights South has 1,500 semi-detached 4-bedroom villas exclusively available for Emirates Airline staff

PROPERTIES IN DISTRICT 11
Properties in District 11 are divided into different parcels. Meydan Heights South is an Emirates Airlines housing plot, while other parcels are low to medium density clusters with villas, townhouses and apartment buildings.

Currently, there are no metro stations serving D-11. This, however, will change upon the completion of MBR City when residents will have access to Etihad Rail, expected to be completed next year. The nearest metro stations are the Business Bay and Noor Bank metro stations, 15 to 20 minutes away.
The best mode of transportation in District 11 is to drive your own car. Public parking spaces in District 11 will proliferate once construction progresses, but residential buildings offer sufficient parking for residents. As it is located at the intersection of E311 and Al-Ain Road, the rest of Dubai is within easy access via car.
AMENITIES, SCHOOLS AND HEALTHCARE
SUPERMARKETS NEAR DISTRICT 11
There are several retail shops located conveniently in the various parcels of D-11. These take care of the daily shopping needs of the residents. Supermarkets near District 11 include the West Zone Fresh Supermarket and Spinneys Market (Nad Al Sheba 1), both around 10 minutes away from the community. Other popular supermarkets include Carrefour near Burj Khalifa Boulevard and Lulu Express in the Al Quoz area.

The closest church is the City Hill Global Church. It is an international congregation located just 3 minutes away from District 11.
There are also a couple of Hindu temples within a 30-minute distance from the community, such as Shiva Temple, Shirdi Sai Baba Mandir and Shrinathji Temple.
SCHOOLS NEAR DISTRICT 11
For families residing in the community, there are several schools near District 11 offering quality education, such as:

Both schools are located within MBR City. They are recently established and offer the IB curriculum until Year 12. Also located nearby is the Repton Academy, 15 minutes away from the community.

SHOPPING, DINING AND NIGHTLIFE
MALLS NEAR DISTRICT 11
Malls near District 11 include Dubai Mall, which is the ultimate shopping and entertainment destination in the emirate. Apart from shopping at hundreds of retail outlets, you can also engage in a variety of unique experiences, such as virtual reality, ice skating and flight simulation, to name a few.
The Meydan One Mall is expected to be completed by the year 2020. Meydan One Mall in MBR City is expected to have over 600 retail shops as well as over 100 food outlets. The mall will also offer many attractions including the world’s largest dancing fountain, indoor sports facilities with water sports and a 1 km indoor ski slope.
RESTAURANTS NEAR DISTRICT 11
Popular casual dining restaurants near District 11 include The Cheesecake Factory and P.F Chang’s, both located at Dubai Mall. There are many other cafes and eateries nearby in Downtown Dubai, such as:

For fine-dining, one can head to the Atmosphere in Burj Khalifa and Ewaan in The Palace Downtown Hotel. If you prefer Thai Cuisine, you can take a 25-minute trip to the Farm Restaurant in the Al Barari area, which has a magical atmosphere with lakes, waterways and gardens.
BEACHES NEAR DISTRICT 11
MBR City is located close to the coastline of the emirate. This means residents when in the mood can head out to beaches near District 11 like the Sunset Beach, Jumeirah Beach, and Kite Beach. There they can walk along the waves or soak up some sunshine on the shore. There are also plenty of activities to engage in, such as swimming, jet skiing and kite surfing.
LEISURE ACTIVITIES AND NOTABLE LANDMARKS
There’s no shortage of leisure activities near District 11. There’s a wide variety of recreational options in nearby areas like:
- Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary
- Dubai Water Channel
- IMG World of Adventure
For those who love animals, the wetland preserve known as Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary can be found at the end of Dubai Creek.
There are several golf courses near D-11 as well, such as The Track, Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club, Emirates Golf Club and Al Badia Golf Club. If you enjoy horse racing and riding, you can head out to the Meydan Racecourse or the Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club.
There are also a couple of museums nearby, such as the Middle East Museum of Modern Art. As far as landmarks are concerned, MBR City is located close to the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES, FITNESS AND BEAUTY
There are several avenues for the residents of District 11 to make the most of the outdoors. Several green spaces and parks have been developed in the sub-community. Cycling enthusiasts can head to the District One Cycling and Running Track on Muscat Street, some 20 minutes from D-11.
Currently, there are no fitness centres in the community, and residents have to travel to areas like Motor City, Uptown Mirdif and Business Bay to access these facilities. Likewise, residents have to visit spots like the Dubai Mall or the City Centre Mirdif to find beauty salons.
As part of MBR City in Dubai, residents of the community can participate in various events scheduled throughout the year, especially sporting activities.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
As District 11 is at a distance from the city centre, it is preferable for residents to use their own car to commute to and from work. Also, note that many projects in MBR City are still under construction. However, once complete, these projects will turn MBR into a major destination in Dubai, which will bring a host of leisure options for residents of D-11. Ultimately, this sub-community is ideal for those who prefer a secluded lifestyle.
