COVID-19 Protocols

Al Itqan American School follows the protocols and guidelines issued by the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA). SPEA decided to continue the same protocols that were implemented for the previous academic year.

SPEA allows the school to be flexible while starting for the new academic year. Schools can adopt from any of the below-mentioned learning models:

  • Continue distance learning at the start of the academic year
  • Combination of distance learning and face-to-face on-site learning with 50% of the workforce at the campus
  • Fully re-opening the school with 100% on-site learning

Al Itqan American School Sharjah opted for the on-site learning option considering the available resources and the spacious campus. The protocols adopted by the school are as follows:

  • Students, teachers and employees need to produce a negative COVID-19 PCR test before physically attending the school.
  • Al Itqan American School sanitised the campus, including classrooms, laboratories and other facilities. The process is repeated frequently to ensure the safety of students and staff.
  • Limit the events and facilities resulting in large gatherings.
  • The school has arranged separate entry and exit points to facilitate students. Temperatures are checked daily at the entry points. Parents are not allowed to enter the school on regular days.
  • The school emphasises on maintaining social distancing. Students maintain a minimum distance of 1.5 metres inside the classrooms.
  • Sharing of stationery and other items are strictly prohibited.
  • The school has reduced the school bus capacity to ensure social distancing within the bus.
  • Students and staff must wear a mask at all times. Students below six years old are exempted from this rule. The school encourages parents to send their children with extra masks.

Academic Calendar for Al ItqanAmerican School

The academic year at Al Itqan American School starts in late August and ends in late June. The academic activities are split into three terms:

  • The first term starts in the last week of August and ends in the second week of December. After examinations, students go on a three-week winter break that ends in the last week of December.
  • The classes resume with the start of the second term in the first week of January and end in the fourth week of March. Students then go on a three-week spring break that ends in the second week of April
  • The last term starts in the third week of April and ends in the last week of July.

Besides, the school observes several religious, national and international events. The dates for these events are subjected to moon sightings.

Admission and Fees

How to Apply to Al ItqanAmerican School?

The admission Process at Al Itqan American School is straightforward. It is an inclusive school that accepts admission requests from all. To apply, parents can contact the school administration for registration. The registration forms are also available in English and Arabic on the school website. They can also register their child online by submitting the online application form.

The admission process carries out throughout the year; however, most admission occurs from April to September. After submitting the application form either online or by hands, the school contacts parents to bring their child for an assessment. The assessment includes a simple test to determine students’ ability in English reading, writing and communication, Mathematics and Arabic. The entrance test is mandatory for getting admission in Grade 1 to Grade 6. A good grasp on English is not mandatory for admission in the kindergarten stage as the school has a strong English language programme in that stage. The school charges AED 500 (one-time only) for the registration and entrance test procedures.

Those clearing the entrance test are required to submit the following documents to complete the registration process:

  • Copy of valid Emirates ID card of the candidate and sponsor (both sides)
  • Two copies of the candidate’s passport with a valid UAE residence visa.
  • Two photocopies of the birth certificate of the candidate (in English or Arabic) (attach original for verification purpose)
  • 4 recent passport-size photographs of the candidate
  • A copy of the transcript of the last examination (for admission in Grade 2 and above)
  • Original transfer certificate (for admission in Grade 2 and above)

The transfer certificate issued by the previous school must be in English or Arabic. If not, please get your child’s transfer certificate translated into the aforementioned languages by official translators. The requirements for an accepted transfer certificate are:

Those applying from outside the UAE should get their transfer certificates attested by the:

  • Ministry of Education or Education Officer of that area
  • The signatures and stamps by the ministry of education must be attested by the embassy of the country of origin in Abu Dhabi
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE

Whereas, students applying from the GCC countries (including the UAE) must get their certificates attested by the:

  • Ministry of Education of that country

Lunch Options at Al ItqanAmerican School

There is a school canteen where students can buy hot and cold food items. These items are prepared in a hygienic environment by using fresh and clean raw materials. All food items are available at an affordable price range. Additionally, students can bring home-packed lunch boxes filled with healthy and nutritious food items.
