Five underground stations will cover 15.5 km of track, and the remaining nine stations will be above ground. The Blue Line is expected to be open to the public by 2029, making commuting across various city areas easier and hassle-free.
ETIHAD RAIL
Does travelling from one emirate to another seem like a task in itself? This won’t be the case anymore with the introduction of Etihad Rail. The announcement of its prototype was made in 2022, which showed the incredible design of this high-speed train, which aims to make transporting goods and passengers seamless and eco-friendly.
Having a train network in place can greatly boost tourism revenue and reduce greenhouse gas emissions (an estimated 2.2 M metric tons).
The train line that connects Dubai and Abu Dhabi will soon be open to the public (the completion date has not yet been announced); however, the cargo train operations are already 100% active across the emirates!
DUBAI SKY POD
Dubai’s future is taking flight! In March 2020, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) unveiled plans for a high-tech transportation system called the Dubai Sky Pod Transport System. Think sleek, high-speed cable cars gliding through the city.
These innovative pods, described as a hybrid between monorails and ski lifts, are slated to connect Business Bay and Al Wasl. The RTA has even partnered with a UK-based company, BeemCar, to bring this futuristic vision to life.
While an exact launch date is unavailable, Dubai residents can expect to see this sky-high mode of transport grace the city skyline within the next few years.
HYPERLOOP

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, approved the design of the aerial taxi ports, named vertiports. Meanwhile, the Dubai Media Office has released images of the stations and the vehicle on social media. In one of the pictures, a vertiport is also shown next to a Dubai Metro station.
