PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN RAK

Established in 2008, the RAK Transport Authority (RAKTA) aims to provide an efficient transportation system to residents in line with the best international practices. Advanced and safe transportation options have been introduced in the city and the authority continuously strives to improve its services.

RAKTA regulates all transportation services in the emirate, including buses, mass transit across the city, taxis, rental buses, tourist transport, commercial transport, maritime transport, school transport and other passenger transport services. 

TAXIS IN RAK

Taxis in RAK, as stated earlier, are regulated by RAKTA. These RAK Transport Authority taxis are metered, air-conditioned vehicles with easy-to-identify cream-coloured roofs. Over 600 taxis in RAK are operated by well-trained drivers who know the different routes.

LOCAL RAKTA CITY BUSES

As per the Ras Al Khaimah Vision 2030 and the expansion strategy of RAKTA, an internal bus service was initiated. Residents and visitors can travel comfortably between key locations such as malls, residential areas, the airport and educational institutions.

RAKTA City Buses are air-conditioned, modern and fully integrated with the RAKBus app and Sayr mobility platform, allowing for real-time tracking and route planning. Passengers can also use the E-Saqr card for easy, cashless payments and top-ups at designated stations.

Red Line: Al Nakheel ↔ Al Jazirah Al Hamra

• Timings: Operates daily from 06:00 am to 10:00 pm
• Route Coverage: Connects residential areas, Manar Mall and Al Hamra Mall.
• Fare: AED 8

Blue Line: Al Nakheel ↔ Sha’am Area

• Timings: Runs daily from 06:00 am to 10:00 pm
• Route Coverage: Covers Al Nakheel, Al Rams and northern communities like Sha’am.
• Fare: AED 8

Green Line: Al Nakheel ↔ RAK Airport

• Timings: Service available daily from 06:00 am to 10:00 pm
• Route Coverage: Provides direct access to Ras Al Khaimah International Airport.
• Fare: AED 8

Purple Line: AURAK ↔ Manar Mall

• Timings: Four round trips daily between 09:30 am and 07:00 pm
• Route Coverage: Serves the American University of Ras Al Khaimah and Manar Mall.
• Fare: AED 8

Orange Line: Al Nakheel ↔ RAK Bus Station (Al Dhait South)

• Timings: Operates from 06:30 am to 08:30 pm, with up to 20 daily trips
• Route Coverage: Stops include Julphar Towers, Clock Roundabout, Flamingo Beach and the RAK Bus Station.

RAK Transport Authority INTERNATIONAL BUS SERVICE

RAK TO MUSANDAM AND RETURN BUS SERVICE

The Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) has announced the launch of the bus service from Ras Al Khaimah to Musandam in the Sultanate of Oman. Here are the details for the RAK to Musandam bus service:

• Timings: Friday, Saturday and Sunday 08:00 am and 06:00 pm
• RAKTA ticket price: AED 50

The Ras Al Khaimah to Musandam bus stops include:

• Main Bus Station (Al Dhait South)
• Al Rams area
• Shaam area

On the other hand, the return journey from Musandam to RAK has these bus stops:

• Tibaat area
• Wilayat of Bukha
• Harf area
• Qada area
• Wilayat of Khasab

RAK RIDE

RAK Ride, the express bus service by RAK Transport Authority (RAKTA), makes getting around Ras Al Khaimah faster and easier. It offers direct, non-stop routes that connect different parts of the emirate. It is specifically useful for remote areas, as it offers seamless connectivity between them and the city centre.

Blue Card

Perfect for everyday use, the Blue Card is available to all passengers. It costs AED 30, which includes AED 20 in travel credit.

• Where to buy: Onboard the bus or at the main bus station ticket counter.

Silver Card

This card is designed for students and senior residents (aged 60 and above). It offers a 50% discount on bus fares and costs AED 20 (includes travel credit).

• Where to buy: Ticket counter at the main bus station (valid ID required).

Gold Card

Exclusively for People of Determination, the Gold Card is issued free for life and allows for complimentary travel on public buses.
