The project is under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and the ruler of Abu Dhabi, and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khalid Bin Mohamed. The updates to Hudayryat Island, also spelled as Hudayriat or Hudayriyat Island, will add 16 beaches to the capital’s coastline — stretching it to 53.5km. Abu Dhabi Media Office hails it as a “first of its kind”, given the sheer size.
The megaproject will feature hilltop residential communities elevated 50 metres above ground. Residents will be treated to impressive 360° views of the surrounding city. Chairman of Modon Properties and Abu Dhabi Department of Finance Jassem Al Zaabi had this to say:
“The Hudayriyat Island development project is a milestone in Abu Dhabi’s journey of innovation and progress as it embodies the city’s futuristic vision for sustainable urban planning, building vibrant communities and developing a diversified economy that boosts the emirate’s competitiveness in all fields.”
