Flying cars in Dubai: Distant dream or imminent reality?
It’s 2025 and we are well on the way to welcoming a world of creativity. One such futuristic technology that will soon arrive in the city seems something straight out of a sci-fi movie. If you have ever heard anyone ask if there are flying cars in Dubai, the unbelievable answer is, yes! It may sound unreal, but flying cars are coming to Dubai pretty soon. While the city’s skies may not look like a scene from The Jetsons, these hovering vehicles will change the cityscape (or should we say skyscape?) soon. Here’s what we know about flying or floating cars in Dubai so far.
Dubai air mobility solutions
If you have ever been stuck in a Dubai traffic jam, you may have already dreamt about flying cars. This dream is coming true sooner than we may have imagined.
Like most modernisation efforts in the emirate, the launch of hover cars in Dubai follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Multiple efforts are well underway to promote advanced air mobility in Dubai. Here’s a look at some of the top flying car projects in Dubai.
Aridge
Aridge, a Chinese firm, is taking the lead when it comes to providing Dubai air mobility solutions. Previously known as Xpeng Aeroht, the company has already conducted a manned flight in Dubai in October 2025. GCC companies have ordered 600 cars, so one can expect these vehicles to operate in the region soon.
Their car is a modular flying car concept in which a ground vehicle carries and recharges a separate, two-person electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Customers will be able to choose from automatic and manual piloting modes.
Aviterra
Wondering when you will have electric flying cars in the UAE? The Dubai-based company Aviterra has taken a major step in bringing the technology very soon. More than 100 flying cars will be launched in 2026. Two-seater PAL-V’s Liberty flying cars can be driven on land and fly as well.
After two minutes of ignition, the car will turn into a flying vehicle. To fly, you will need to be on a 120-metre strip to take off and it could reach up to 11,000 feet high. In terms of fuel, these electric cars in Dubai will run on regular petroleum. These cars will have a maximum airspeed of 180 km/h and a flight range of 500 km.

FLYING TAXIS DUBAI
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), along with Joby Aviation, have completed the very first crewed electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aerial taxi flight between two different locations. One of the most talked about flying car projects in Dubai, the electric aerial taxi flew from Joby’s test facility in Margham to Al Maktoum International Airport in 17 minutes. The full-scale launch is expected in 2026.
The RTA is also working with Skyports Infrastructure, a UK-based company and thus far has completed 60% of the construction of the first vertical take-off and landing aerial taxi vertiport. It is located near the Dubai International Airport. Three additional vertiports to support aerial taxis are also in the works in partnership with Emaar Properties, Atlantis The Royal, and Wasl Asset Management Group.

UBER FLYING CARS DUBAI
Flying Uber cars may also be one of the hottest new experiences in Dubai. It is no secret that Uber has been dabbling in the technology and safety infrastructure for passenger drones for some time now.
The company is now working with Joby Aviation to allow customers to reserve flights with Blade, a service that already runs helicopter and seaplane routes in New York, the Hamptons and southern Europe.
