TRAFFIC LAW AMENDMENTS
The government announced amendments to the traffic laws in 2023, imposing heavy penalties for certain violations.
If a vehicle is impounded for any of the following violations, a fine of AED 50,000 has to be paid for release.
- Driving a vehicle recklessly or in a manner that poses a danger to lives or properties.
- Jumping a red light.
- Driving a vehicle with a fake, forged, obscured or unlawfully used number plate.
- Riding recreational motorcycles on paved roads.
