At Bayut, we like to keep our eyes and ears open for exciting new developments in Dubai and the rest of the UAE to have all kinds of information available to everyone! This week we are super excited to bring you the city’s latest waterfront beauty – Al Seef Dubai by Meraas. Overlooking the scintillating Dubai Creek, it’s an ode to the emirate’s beautiful journey from a humble port of seafaring merchants to the consummate luxury capital of the world. Lending a little something extra to Dubai’s impressive lifestyle scene, Al Seef stands out from the other heritage sites in Dubai. Let’s take a walk through the stone-paved sikkas and see why we should visit Al Seef!
The Unique Aesthetics of Al Seef Dubai
The first phase of Al Seef Dubai launched in December last year and immediately got the city talking about the refreshing look and feel of the place that seamlessly blends a contemporary boardwalk and traditional Emirati village. The beautiful promenade is one of the must-visit places in Al Seef Dubai.
The modern promenade with its high-end restaurants, al fresco cafés and retail outlets, looks remarkably similar to Dubai hipsters’ favourite, City Walk. The bright glass exterior of the many eateries and boutiques facing the marina have that quintessentially urban Dubai feel. The possibility that there could be a traditional village tucked away just a few steps away, doesn’t even occur to you till you walk further and enter the traditional Al Seef Village.
The old quarters of Al Seef Dubai will leave you mesmerized! The simplicity of the sandy-hued houses, the carefully reconstructed alleyways and the relics depicting Dubai’s trading past will effectively wipe all thought of the glitz and glamour you associate with the city. You can almost feel what it must have been like in the past to sip on tiny cups of Arabic coffee and wait by the Creek to receive the goods coming in.
Restaurants in Al Seef Dubai
Dubai’s culinary landscape has an enviable range of gastronomic offerings, and impressing the discerning Dubai foodie is no mean feat. The restaurants in Al Seef Dubai are already racking up brownie points! The Lebanese-Armenian Mamikonian and shabby-chic Kava and Chai stand out in particular. There are currently no licensed restaurants in Al Seef, but quite a few places offer shishas to enjoy over a cup of coffee and conversation!
You can expect floating restaurants, stations for Abra rides, a marina for yachts, chic boutiques and several other retail and dining outlets to be added to the list when the new phase opens up later this year.
We are absolutely loving the timelessness of this 1.8 km stretch that gives Al Seef Dubai it’s distinct old-world charm. For those of you who still haven’t figured out what to do for Valentine’s Day, a trip to Al Seef may just be the answer. A romantic dinner by the Creek is sure to impress the better half!
Events in al Seef Dubai
Al Seef’s open-air market has been a beehive of activity with pop-up stores, exhibitions and even competitions since it opened last year. The biggest attraction has definitely been the fireworks display which you can catch on most Friday evenings. It does get quite crowded though, so be sure to watch out for little ones venturing too close to the water in all the excitement.
How to Reach Al Seef Dubai
Getting to Al Seef is as simple as it can get! If you are relying on public transport it’s a short walk from the Burjuman and Al Fahidi metro stations. Those of you driving in can access the free underground parking that houses 500 plus vehicles along with public parking spaces available near the consulate area for busier days.
Al Seef is also connected to Dubai’s marine transport system which includes water buses, abras and even private yachts.
Opening times of Al Seef Dubai
Al Seef is currently open from 10 am to midnight on all days. The mornings are predictably quite empty, but things pick up in the evenings.
Simply put, we love it! A true respite from the city’s fast pace, Al Seef Dubai has made an indelible mark as Dubai’s latest cultural haven. We definitely recommend it for a relaxing time by the waterfront, so add it to your list of must-see winter hotspots in Dubai and be sure to check it out before the heat kicks in.
If you fancy living close to this new hotspot, take a look at some of the properties for rent in Bur Dubai. For other laidback weekend hangout spots, don’t forget to check out the super chic La Mer, another Meraas development!
