ABOUT Al NABBA
Al Nabba is one of Sharjah’s many small creekside communities. It is most famously known for being home to the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization. This is a well-established community and has a varied selection of supermarkets, restaurants, malls and hospitals. In a nutshell, you won’t have to leave the area as most basic amenities can be availed readily right within the community. This area is mostly home to mid-rise apartment towers and residential buildings here are a mix of old and new.

Considered to be one of the few well-established residential communities in Sharjah, there are several options in terms of rental apartments.
PROPERTIES IN Al NABBA
Starting off from the studio apartment category, a studio apartment in Al Nabba will come with one bath and 200 sq. ft. of floor space, which will demand an annual rent of AED 12k. On the flip side, the most upscale version of the latter will rent for AED 17k per annum which will come with 300 sq. ft. and one bath. Moving on, a 1BHK flat in Al Nabba will demand a starting rental rate of AED 13k per annum, which will come with one bath and 800 sq. ft. of floor space. Slightly smaller and more expensive at AED 22k per annum is a 1-bed apartment.
For those interested in a larger rental property in Al Nabba, they should consider an Al Nabba flat with 2 bedrooms. These units will typically come with two baths and around 1,000 sq. ft. of living space.
TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING SPACES IN Al NABBA
The buildings in Al Nabba are older and many do not offer residents covered parking. This means that residents in Al Nabba will have to park on the streets where there is paid parking. Thus, the options on finding parking spaces in Al Nabba are limited.
Those wondering about what to expect in terms of public transportation in Al Nabba, the closest bus stop is in Al Rolla where you can take an RTA bus to Dubai as well as other emirates. The Rolla bus is a 10-minute walk from Al Nabba. As compared to other areas in Sharjah, those residing in Al Nabba have the benefit of taking a short walk to the bus station.
AMENITIES, SCHOOLS AND HEALTHCARE
SUPERMARKETS IN Al NABBA
There are around five supermarkets in Al Nabba. The most popular one is Lulu Centre Rolla which is more of a department store. Another popular supermarket in the area is the Pakistan Supermarket which stocks all the Pakistani consumer goods such as spices, snacks and ready-to-eat meals. Here, you’ll also find popular street snacks such as gola-ganda, bun kabab and a few other popular street foods from Pakistan.
CHURCHES, TEMPLES AND MOSQUES IN Al NABBA
Although there aren't any churches in Al Nabba, specifically. Just 4.5 kilometres south, there's the community of Al Yarmook which has over 10 churches for different denominations of Christianity. There are churches both for a large and small congregation in this area so it’s likely that you’ll be able to attend Sunday mass on a regular basis.
There are no temples in Al Nabba. To visit a temple, you can drive to Dubai in the community of Al Souq Al Kabeer, where there are over 10 different temples devoted to the various deities within Hinduism.
There’s only one major mosque in Al Nabba, called Abu Dhar Alghafari Mosque. This is a medium sized mosque that can accommodate a small crowd of worshippers during Friday prayers.
SCHOOLS IN Al NABBA
There are several schools in Al Nabba. However, the closest school is the Al Amaal English High School. This school follows the Pakistani standard of education and is accredited by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Islamabad (FBISE). Moreover, aside from English, students are also required to take Arabic and Urdu classes. Another school that is close to the community is Pace International School. This is a Montessori school which means the focus is on early childhood education. Children aged 3 to 6 years are the primary students of this school.
CLINICS AND HOSPITALS IN Al NABBA
There is only one clinic in Al Nabba which is called Dr Sanjay Medical Centre. This is a small clinic where you can consult a general physician on basic health care matters. For those who may have come across a medical emergency, they should head to the Thumbay Hospital Day Care Rolla which is just six minutes away on Al Arouba Street. Not only is this hospital the closest in the vicinity but is also the most reputable for providing superior health care services. Accordingly, despite there being no hospital in Al Nabba, one will not have to drive far to get emergency medical treatment.
To its north is Al Mujarrah which is home to Al Mujarrah Park. Also, to the north is the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization. To the south is the community of Al Manakh which is home to the Indian Association - Sharjah. To the west, you’ll find the community of Al Shuwaihean. If you decide to head east, you’ll end up in the community of Al Mujarrah. All these areas are considered to be well-established residential areas in Sharjah.
SHOPPING, DINING AND NIGHTLIFE
The nightlife in Al Nabba mostly revolves around family time. There’s a no bar or club scene in all of Sharjah. Nonetheless, there’s plenty to do and see in and around this community.
MALLS IN AL NABBA
There are no Malls in Al Nabba. Nevertheless, the closest mall is just six minutes away which is called My City Centre Nasseriya. This mall is a one-stop destination where you can dine, shop and conduct banking transaction as there are several restaurants, banks and retail stores in this mall. This mall has a few flagships retail stores such as the Al Jawhra Al Fidhiah Accessories which sells gold watches and specialized jewellery. Next, this mall is home to Al Rasasi Perfumes which stocks one of the rarest agarwood concentrated perfumes. Al Rasasi Perfumes has over four decades of experience in the oud and perfume industry and is the go-to destination if you want the best selection of upscale oud, perfumes and colognes.
When shopping in this mall, you can also have your prescription medication filled as there is a Life Pharmacy in this mall. From over-the-counter medication to prescriptions, you can find a variety of healthcare products and remedies at this pharmacy. Finally, for sports fans and enthusiasts, there is the Sun and Sand Sports store that sells a variety of sports accessories.
RESTAURANTS IN AL NABBA
There are some popular restaurants in Al Nabba. For instance, Wardat Beijing is the most popular restaurant in the area and is less than one minute away from Al Nabba central. This restaurant has a casual environment and you can bring your children here. You'll find all popular Chinese dishes such as American chop suey, hot-and-sour-soup, Chinese corn soup, beef chilli and other varieties of Chinese dishes, desserts and starters. For slightly upscale dining, there’s the Asian Palace Restaurant located on 1st Floor, Mubarak Centre, Al Sharq St. This is an upscale restaurant that offers Pakistani/Indian food and is popular amongst the Indian and Pakistani community.
For those who simply want a casual dining experience, there is the Chutney restaurant which is situated on Shop # 1 & 2, Street # 35, Al Andalus Square, Al Mujarrah – you can reach here in two minutes from Al Nabba Central. Here, you can find a variety of grilled Pakistani foods such as boti-kebab, reshmi kebab, fried puri, chutney roll and fast-food items.
BEACHES NEAR AL NABBA
There are no beaches in Al Nabba per say. But at a journey-time of 12-minutes drive, one can reach Al Khan Beach. The Al Khan beach is a public beach in Al Khan that has mostly all the facilities you can expect on a public beach. There is also a kid’s play area that has slides, swings and a jungle-gym of sorts.
LEISURE ACTIVITIES AND NOTABLE LANDMARKS
When it comes to notable landmarks near Al Nabba, there are few that stand out above the rest. For instance, Al Qasba, which is just 11 minutes west of Al Nabba, is a complete recreational destination with several cafes, restaurants, boat tours and a children's play area. It is also home to the Eye of the Emirates – a giant Ferris wheel that has become a major landmark in Sharjah. Al Qasba is also a place where most community events take place. Al Qasba has some interesting attractions such as the Al Qasba Musical Fountain where the water fountains dance to the music playing in the background – it certainly is an interesting show to watch.
Then there is Kids Fun Zone which stimulates your child’s curiosity and is appropriate for all age groups. In the Fun Zone, your child will have the opportunity to build their social skills and learn about teamwork with his or her peer group. Most importantly, the Fun Zone has been constructed with safety in mind and thus, so you can let your child enjoy without having to worry about their safety.
There are also boat rides where you are given a tour of Sharjah on a traditional boat called an ‘Abra'. There are also go-kart rentals available which let children zip around the park.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES, FITNESS AND BEAUTY
There is a park in Al Nabba which is called the Al Mujarrah Park. This is a medium sized park which also overlooks the creek. There is a small kid's play area. This park is visited by local residents and most of them are families living in the area.
For fitness enthusiasts, the closest gym is Al Rolla Gym which is 3 minutes away. The Al Rolla Gym is a small gym but has all the equipment one would need to get a complete workout. there are several spas in the area but the most popular and reputable one is the Mask Spa. This spa is eight minutes south of the community. Here, you can find services such as facials, stone therapy, manicure, pedicures, skin bleaching and professional makeup.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
All in all, Al Nabba is an excellent area to live in. However, some of the buildings are old. This could be an issue because these older buildings don’t have covered parking options. Often times, you may find parking several blocks away from your home, which can prove to be quite inconvenient.
