COVID-19 Protocols

PACE International School Sharjah collaborated with Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) and other authorities to come up with COVID-19 protocols. SPEA offers a flexible plan for schools to re-open based on the following three options:

  • Continue distance learning at the start of the academic year
  • Combination of distance learning and face-to-face on-site learning with 50% of the workforce at the campus
  • Fully re-opening the school with 100% on-site learning

Additionally, SPEA requested schools to gradually re-open until they reach the capacity to teach all students at the campus with proper safety and health standards. The following protocols must be followed by the schools in Sharjah to offer on-site learning:

  • Students, teacher and staff members will need to get a negative test result for COVID-19.

Pace International School Curriculum

The PACE International School Sharjah follows the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum for its educational programme. The broad curriculum embedded with technological support and international-mindedness prepares students for the 21st-century world. It also focuses on the development of co-curricular skills to assist students in combating modern-day challenges.

The educational programme for different stages of education at this school are as follows:

Kindergarten Curriculum

In the kindergarten stage, the school adopts the Montessori framework of education. This educational institute believes that students aged 3 to 6 years old have great learning capacity. They have an absorbent mind and by implementing play-based learning strategies, teachers can inculcate fundamental skills.

The Montessori method of teaching involves self-directed activities, where students are exposed to collaborative play and hands-on learning opportunities. Teachers guide students to the learning path by introducing them to age-appropriate activities.

The Montessori philosophy revolves around the following pillars:

Students are given ample freedom in a structured environment. Teachers allow students to freely explore the world around them. Students can pick up the piece of equipment and play with it to learn more about it.

It encourages children to be independent and make choices for themselves. It further inculcates self-discipline among students through freedom of movement and introducing them to age-appropriate learning materials. In this way, students completing kindergarten education are self-disciplined, ready to tackle the challenges of primary education.

Another important pillar of Montessori education at PACE International School is reality and beauty. The school understands the importance of actual objects over imaginary playing material for students’ development. Teachers achieve this by introducing children to the outdoor environment where they can interact with natural objects, such as flowers, water, grass and sand. Furthermore, the students are introduced to daily life activities by building their habits towards familiar home activities, such as preparing food, polishing, sweeping and dusting, etc.

The educational activities include language skills, mathematics and cultural subjects. The mathematics-related skills of students are built using concrete materials. The concrete materials are used to build students’ skills in identifying numbers, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The cultural subjects are also taught to students including botany, zoology, history, geography, music and art.

It separates social studies into history, civics and geography. Remaining subjects are similar to those studied in the primary stage. Arabic and Islamic Education are compulsory subjects as ordered by the MOE.
