School Details

COVID-19 Protocols

The government of UAE decided to reopen the schools for on-site learning for the academic year 2021-2022. It has issued a set of safety guidelines to help schools to offer a safe learning environment for students and staff. The following SOPs are implemented by schools in the emirate, including Delhi Private School Sharjah:

  • All students above 12 years old and staff members, including teachers, have to submit negative COVID-19 PCR test results before returning to schools. The test must be performed 72 hours before physically appearing at school.
  • Employees need to get two doses of COVID-19 vaccines before physically entering schools. Those exempted from vaccination have to provide a relevant medical certificate issued by the health department and a negative COVID-19 PCR test 72 hours before appearing for school. The test results must be submitted every week.
  • From October 31 onwards, all the schools in Sharjah will provide complete on-site learning to students.
  • The security team must check the temperature of students, staff and third-party contractors each morning. Those with temperatures above 37.5 degrees centigrade are not allowed to enter schools.
  • A safe distance of 1.5 metres must be maintained within classrooms and on campus. Schools can use physical markings to maintain the distance.
  • A stable group of 10 or fewer students is recommended for students from Pre-KG to KG2.
  • Lockers are permitted as long as each child has a designated locker and social distancing protocols are not compromised.
  • Some school facilities, such as dress up sections, indoor and outdoor play areas, swimming pools and reading corners, etc. will remain closed until further notice.
  • Students above six years old and staff members have to wear a face mask at all times. They are advised to bring two facemasks daily. Students below six years old are exempted from wearing a mask.
  • Bus capacity is reduced to 50% to ensure social distancing on buses.
  • Seating arrangements will be clearly marked out in canteen areas; no students will be permitted to sit directly adjacent or next to one another. A physical distance of 2 meters should be kept in canteen areas.
  • Schools can operate a pre-selected and pre-packed lunch service, with no live cooking taking place at school. 
  • School events, field trips, extracurricular activities, after-school clubs and activities, sports events, holiday camps and celebrations are suspended until further notice.
  • Extra-curricular activities are encouraged to be offered digitally. 
  • Physical education will continue; however, access to swimming pools is not allowed.

GEMS Millennium School Sharjah Curriculum

GMS Sharjah is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), India and delivers the syllabus prescribed by the same. The curriculum offers the latest educational methods and techniques while implementing hands-on learning.

Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) is an educational technique adopted by all CBSE schools. Students partake in an evaluation system that is evenly paced and motivates them to learn frequently and consistently. The CCE technique does not upstage traditional examination methods but simply ‘de-emphasises’ them. Other than CBSE formative and summative assessments, the school also runs diagnostics and prognostics tests in order to determine students’ aptitude and attitude. Criterion Reference Tests (CRT) are used as well.

Distance Learning

The Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management team in Sharjah, in coordination with Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA), has allowed all private schools in the emirate to resume 100% in-class learning. However, students who are sick can get an exemption; they must submit a relevant health certificate to continue with remote learning.

Admission and Fees

How to Apply to GEMS Millennium School Sharjah

GMS is an all-inclusive school that welcomes children of any learning preferences. The school’s Learning Support Assistants and Student Support Centre cater to the needs of all students.

GEMS Millennium School Sharjah’s admission procedure is as follows:

  • The first step in the admission process is to enrol online
  • School’s internal system provide the current status of admissions. The process will be halted if there is no seat available or the admissions are closed for that grade.
  • Parents should confirm student’s background, passport and visa details. They should also enter the primary contact details i.e. details of the father/mother/guardian.
  • Parents receive a preview of the form which they can verify before proceeding to submit the enquiry.

Following are the documents required during enrolment:

  • Online registration number
  • Admission form duly completed
  • Two photocopies of the child’s passport with a valid U.A.E. visa (first page, last page and visa page)
  • Two Emirates ID card copies of child (front and back of the card)
  • Two copies of the birth certificate of the child in English or Arabic
  • Five passport size (4cm x 6cm) photographs of child with white background
  • Two copies of father’s passport, valid residence visa and Emirates ID
  • Immunization card copy
  • Original Emirates ID of the child and parents will be scanned and returned immediately. This is required when MOE opens their online system for approval (an appointment will be given)
  • Transfer Certificate (TC)
  • Latest report card

For Grade 1 and up, the TC of the last school and latest report card must be attested as follows:

  • Students transferring from within the UAE:
    • Original TC of the previous school attested by the Ministry of Education of that Emirate.
  • Students transferring from outside the UAE: 
    • From India: TC and report card must be attested by the Education Offer of the zone/district/area. ICSE/CBSE students must have their TC attested by the respective board. The seal and signature of the Education Officer has to attested by the Indian Consulate in Dubai and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dubai/Sharjah/U.A.E
  • Students transferring from other GCC countries (excluding UAE and Oman):
    • TC must be attested by the Indian Consulate/Embassy, Education Ministry, External Affairs Ministry and UAE consulate of that country.
  • Students transferring from Oman:
    • TC must be attested by the Indian Consulate/Embassy, Education Ministry, External Affairs Ministry and UAE consulate of Oman. Verification by the local Education Ministry of that country must also be complete.

Important guidelines to keep in mind during the admission process:

  • Students must meet the age requirements set by the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) and the Ministry of Education (MoE)
  • Parents must inform the school regarding any special education needs, individual education plans (IEPs), educational psychologist, pediatric reports, Speech and Language reports, Occupational therapy reports, etc. This is to give the staff ample time to develop an educational plan after assessing the need and availability of resources.

For new admissions, a registration fee of AED 500 is due upon acceptance. This fee is non-refundable/non-transferable but adjusted against the first term tuition fee upon enrolment.

Fee payment specifications:

  • School fee is due on the 5th of every month. If the fees are not cleared by the 25th, the defaulter will be referred to the MoE for future action and re-admission will only be granted on payment of the re-admission fee. 
  • Fees will be collected in ten instalments over the course of the academic year. Fees will not be collected for the months of July and August. 
  • Mode of payment: Cash, cheques (post-dated cheques will not be accepted), GEMS-FAB credit card and other bank credit cards. Cheques should be made in favour of “Gems Millennium School – Sharjah”. Student’s name, ID number, grade and section should be written clearly on the reverse of the cheques leaf.

Alternatively, parents can choose to pay the fees online.

Scholarships at GEMS Millennium School Sharjah

The GEMS Education Group offers GEMS scholarships based on merit in academics, creative and performing arts, innovation and digital technology, sports and Arabic Studies. A 25%-100% concession fee depending on the level of merit will be awarded to the candidate. Candidates must renew their scholarship every year. This renewal is subject to approval based on student’s academic progress.

Lunch Options at GMS Sharjah

Like most GEMS schools, the Millennium School Sharjah has outsourced its catering to Slices, a food catering company that provides healthy, nutritious snacks and meals at affordable prices. GMS has a ‘cashless catering facility’ in place, which means parents can recharge their child’s Student ID card with money to use at the school canteen. Parents can also adjust their child’s daily spending limit, restrict certain foods and view the transaction details.

Holiday Camps at GEMS Millennium School Sharjah

GMS has organised an overnight campus on-campus for higher secondary boys and girls on separate occasions. Students of grade 8 and higher attended these camps.

After-school Care at GEMS Millennium School Sharjah

All the extracurricular activities that take place at GMS Sharjah transpire after school hours. For students of Grade 3 and above, GEMS Millennium School Sharjah timings are 07:30 am to 01:30 pm. Students can choose to stay back for the after school activities until 04:00 pm.

For students of Kindergarten to Grade 2, classes normally take place from 07:30 am to 11:30 am. They can, however, stay back till 01:30 pm. This is convenient for parents who wants their kid to stay back a little longer at school. The students can stay occupied with a number of activities such as Fun with coding, storytelling, skating and gymnastics, to name a few.

Medical Care at GEMS Millennium School Sharjah

There are two well-equipped clinics in the campus. GMS has two doctors and three nurses to take care of the health of students and staff.
