Jumeirah International follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) education framework. It is a British standard for early childhood education that prepares children for the school's environment. The curriculum focuses on developing fundamental skills by targeting the seven key areas of learning. Teachers have further enriched the educational programme with Reggio Emilia's approach and playing activities.
Jumeirah International Nurseries accepts children as young as 45 days to 6 years. Children are enrolled in different age groups depending on their age and skills. The age groups at JINS are:
Phases | Ages Covered |
---|---|
Little Learners | 45 days to 1.2 years old |
Curious Beginners | 1.3 years to 2 years old |
Inquisitive Adventurers | 2.1 years to 3 years old |
Confident Explorer | 3.1 years to 4 years old |
Active Discoverers | 4.1 years to 5 years old |
Creative Achievers | 5.1 years to 6 years old |
Jumeirah International Nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) education framework. It is a renowned British curriculum for early childhood education which aims to prepare children for school using a stimulated, fun and play-based environment. Teachers use informal, play-and-learn strategies to teach fundamental skills to students.
EYFS considers that each child has individual needs and grows independently. The EYFS principles are:
EYFS has seven key areas of learning split into two broad categories: prime and specific.
The prime areas of learning are:
The specific areas of learning are:
In this stage, the babies are encouraged to crawl and roll. The older babies about to enter the next step are taught to walk and feed themselves. Babies are curious learners. Therefore, JINS allows them to visit the outside garden and sensory playground. The Little Learners section has changing rooms so babies can sleep according to their parents' designed schedule. The children-to-staff ratio within the baby rooms is 1:3.
Children entering the Curious Beginner stage are encouraged to participate in child-initiated activities. In this stage, the nursery builds language and fine motor skills to help children express themselves and move freely. Potty training is also given to children in this stage. By the end of this stage, most children become independent in routine tasks.
Jumeirah International Nurseries believe children are most receptive to new information at this stage. Therefore, the nursery incorporates role-playing activities and independent learning within the educational programme. Children develop healthy and positive habits that will help them in school and the future. At this stage, the nursery also focuses on developing students' social skills through interactive music, assemblies, puppet shows and singing.
In this stage, the nursery keeps children interested in learning and exploring freely. Free-flowing rooms are handy as children love to move and use their senses to explore and understand the world around them. The activities usually part of the educational programme for this stage of education include cooking, music, creative crafts and play-based activities in the outdoor play and messy areas.
This is the last age group at Jumeirah International Nurseries, where children have many learning opportunities. The nursery offers personalised mathematics, literacy, expressive arts and design lessons and understanding of the world.
