ADEK Rating

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) was formed in 2005 with the vision to expand and improve the capital’s education sector. The agency is responsible for inspecting and supervising private and public schools in Abu Dhabi. ADEK aims to establish the capital as a regional and international educational hub.

Furthermore, the organisation has formed the Irtiqaa Programme, under which schools in Abu Dhabi are inspected periodically. It rates schools based on the following six parameters:

  • Teaching and assessment
  • Curriculum
  • Students’ achievement
  • Students social development
  • Leadership and management
  • Care and guidance provided to children.

The picture below explains the six-point scale ranging from ‘Outstanding’ to ‘Very Weak.’

ADEK rating for private and public schools
The school has recently been rated ‘Acceptable’ by the ADEK

According to the report, Al Ain Juniors School in Falaj Hazzaa has shown continuous improvement in KG level. Little ones are offered an exciting curriculum that sparks their curiosity. Furthermore, students have a comprehensive understanding of the UAE culture and Islamic values. Also, children have a strong relationship with their peers, teachers, and parents.

AJS Falaj Hazzaa has kept students’ physical, mental and emotional health as their top priority. The school ensures that parents and sponsors remain an integral part of their child’s life.

Nevertheless, the report highlighted a few areas of concern and made recommendations accordingly. The school must offer a learning experience that is more research-based and involves problem-solving activities.

Teachers must work on their skills and methods while conducting a class. They are recommended to use data-driven assessment information wisely. They should also provide challenging tasks in the class and deliver high-quality feedback to students to work on their academic progress.

Finally, Al Ain Juniors School must improve leadership and governance by switching to an adaptive and modified curriculum. The curriculum should cover the needs of students of determination as well. Likewise, the role of middle leadership should be expanded so that adequate supervision of teaching strategies and methods can be conducted.
