OVERVIEW
The Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, located in the Saadiyat Cultural District, is a visionary project led by the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi (DCT) in collaboration with Miral, the emirate’s leading creator of immersive destinations.
Officially announced on Wednesday, 23rd March 2022, by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, the museum promises to be a captivating and educational space for all ages.
Designed by renowned architecture firm Mecanoo, the 35,000 sq. m. waterfront museum will feature a design inspired by the natural rock formations of the UAE. The architecture beautifully integrates water and vegetation, symbolising life and resilience in the desert environment.
Once complete, the museum will function as both a scientific research and teaching institution and a dynamic learning hub, helping visitors deepen their understanding of Earth’s natural history and the processes that continue to shape our planet.
