WHAT IS THE MAKANI NUMBER DUBAI?
Introduced by the Dubai Municipality in 2015, Makani complements the traditional address system and is another step towards making Dubai one of the smartest cities in the world.
The Makani number is part of the official addressing system in Dubai. In a nutshell, it’s a smart navigation system implemented by the Dubai Municipality, which uses geo-tagging to locate the entrance to any building on interactive maps. It was later adopted by other emirates including Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah.
All of the completed properties in Dubai and the other above-mentioned emirates have a unique 10-digit number posted on the façade, that number is known as their Makani number. We’re talking hospitals, villas, high-rise buildings and even giant-sized landmarks like Dubai Mall.
Dubai is the first city in the world to adopt such a number-based addressing system. It makes it extremely easy to find any location with a 1-square-meter accuracy on smartphones and navigation systems. Because each Makani number is unique, there is no additional information like symbols or names required to find directions to the desired location, which makes it ideal for a massive city like Dubai.
HOW DO I FIND MY MAKANI NUMBER?
