ABOUT AL WATHBA LAKE CAMP ABU DHABI
Located just 45 minutes from Abu Dhabi’s city centre, Al Wathba Lake Camp combines a picturesque lake with breathtakingly beautiful desert – making it a truly memorable place to set up camp.
Opened for the public by the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), Al Wathba Camp features pitch types suitable for both tents and RVs.
Talking about the facility, His Excellency Dr Salem Khalfan Al Kaabi, Acting Director-General of Operational Affairs in the Department of Municipalities and Transport, had this to say:
“Our sites [Al Wathba Lake Camp] will appeal to a wide range of campers, families and nature lovers, whether you are an adventure enthusiast who will enjoy our new attraction areas or a cyclist who wants to reconnect with this amazing landscape while ensuring that the natural surroundings are preserved, and Abu Dhabi’s amazing biodiversity protected.”
WHAT IS AL WATHBA CAMP?
The Al Wathba camp comprises 13 free camping areas for either tents or RVs. The site has the capacity to accommodate up to 120 people. You can head there with your family to bask in the stunning beauty of the lake and desert.

Al Wathba Camp is home to an array of facilities:
- 24 picnic sites
- A 1.2 km long cycle track with a rental centre
- A pontoon walking area
- 3,000 sq. m. of gathering space
- Two separate observation decks
- Ten food trucks
- Cafes
- Parking
- First aid facilities
- Restrooms
- Rental services
- Seven playgrounds
- Two volleyball courts
- 1.4km of running track around the lake
