Old Umm Al Quwain, from where the emirate expanded was discovered 200 years back by Sheikh Majed Al Mualla. They followed the occupation of their descendants and earned bread and butter through fishing and pearl diving.

The area has not been changed anymore. One can see a dhow-building yard, fishing boats and nets, coral-stone houses and watchtowers in the area.
