Al Sharq is a coastal district of Sharjah on the western end of the emirate. It is a cluster of seven communities; Al Seef, Bu Tina, Maysaloon, Al Nasserya, Al Qulaayah, Al Nabba and Al Mujarrah with a wide range of residential and commercial properties on offer. The development is home to two notable landmarks of the city – Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization and Sharjah Clock Tower. PROPERTIES IN AL SHARQ

Al Nasserya on the north-eastern side of the residential district mainly has villas. One may also find some apartment blocks here. The Grand Avenue in Al Nasserya features apartments, a mosque and park.
Bu Tina is popular for renting apartments. It offers studio, 1, 2 and 3-bedroom flats for rent. The annual rent for a 1-bedroom apartment fluctuates between AED 14k to AED 20k while one is expected to pay AED 20k to AED 27k for renting 2-bed flats in Bu Tina.
Further, Al Qulayaah is another residential community next to Bu Tina featuring mid to high-rise apartment buildings. It is an ideal residential address for singletons and families alike, with a wide range of studios, 1-bed and 2-bed flats. The annual price of a studio starts as low as AED 9k while one can go for 1-bed flats for rent Al Qulayaa costing around AED 17k at the minimum.
Al Seef is the waterfront community with Radisson Blu Resort, Sharjah Ladies Club and Al Maghfirah Mosque. Al Nabba is another well-established apartment community in Al Sharq. Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization is situated in this sub-community. Al Mujarrah and Maysaloon are other sub-communities where you can rent or buy property.

TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING SPACES IN AL SHARQ
For car parking in Al Sharq, most of the apartment buildings and villas offer dedicated parking areas for one vehicle. Visitors and those who own more than one car can avail street parking facility outside the residence.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN AL SHARQ
The means of public transportation in Al Sharq include bus and taxi. Residents can avail bus service from Al Rolla bus stop and Al Jubail Station in a 3 to 5-minute drive. Otherwise, hailing a private taxi can be convenient for commuting.

SUPERMARKETS IN AL SHARQ
Residents don’t need to travel far for grocery shopping as there are numerous supermarkets in Al Sharq offering quality products. These include Al Madina Supermarket, Al Ghazal Supermarket, Naema Supermarket and Pakistan Supermarket. Some of the best supermarkets in Sharjah are also located in the community such as Lulu Hypermarket, Carrefour and Nesto Supermarket. Other retail stores in the neighbourhood are Nazir Furniture, Al Sadiq Discounts Market and Eco Car Cleaning Services.
CHURCHES, TEMPLES AND MOSQUES IN AL SHARQ
There is no shortage of mosques in Al Sharq for Muslim community members. They can offer their daily prayers in Al Barakah Mosque, Fatima Al Zahra Mosque, Asad Ibn Al Furat Mosque and Umm Al Qura Mosque. The famous Al Noor Mosque and King Faisal Mosque are located in the neighbouring areas. Residents can drive for around 5 to 10-minutes to reach there.
Christian fellows will have to drive for around 8-minutes to visit churches near Al Sharq. These include St Gregorios Orthodox Church, Russian Orthodox Church and Church of Virgin Mary & Egyptian Coptic Orthodox. For visiting the temples near Al Sharq, residents can head to Dubai as there are no temples in Sharjah at the moment. It will take around half an hour drive for Hindu believers to visit temples in Bur Dubai.
SCHOOLS IN AL SHARQ
Living in Al Sharq offers great comfort for those with school-going children as there are several reputable schools located in the community. Al Amaal English High School, Baby Land Nursery School Sharjah and National Charity School for Girls are few schools in Al Sharq. Al Amaal English School is one of the Pakistani schools in Sharjah following the FBISE curriculum for Kindergarten to Grade 10. It has an auditorium, laboratory and modern security system.
There are a few driving schools in Al Sharq where one can get the training and complete the required procedure. Al Midfa Driving School and Al Fania Motor Driving are some of the popular driving schools in Sharjah offering specially designed courses for Emirati locals and expats.
Lincoln University UAE is an 11-minute drive away for those looking for higher education options. Other universities near Al Sharq are the American University of Sharjah, Ajman University and Gulf Medical University.
CLINICS AND HOSPITALS IN AL SHARQ
Al Sharq is home to one of the best hospitals in Sharjah, Zulekha Hospital Sharjah. It is a multidisciplinary hospital that spread over an area of 290,000 sq. ft. The hospital offers facilities for obstetrics, surgery, paediatrics, medicine and gynaecology. It has 185 beds to facilitate inpatient and outpatient. Other hospitals in Al Sharq are Emirates European Hospital, Saudi German Hospital and Central Private Hospital.
Residents will also find several pharmacies in Al Sharq such as Thumbay Pharmacy, Aster Pharmacy and Makkah Pharmacy.
Al Sharq is surrounded by popular residential areas of the emirate. The community of Al Heerah Suburb lies to the north of Al Sharq. These include Al Fisht, Al Mirgab and Sharqan. Al Riqqa Suburb is situated towards the east of the neighbourhood with eight sub-communities. Al Azra, Al Ghafia and Al Ramla East are a few of them. The cluster of seven residential communities, Halwan Suburb is located to the south-eastern side while Al Gharb and Al Mareija lie towards the south of Al Sharq.

MALLS IN AL SHARQ
My City Centre Al Nasseriya and Grand Avenue are two of the popular malls in Al Sharq. My City Centre Al Nasseriya spread over an area of 5,400 sq. ft. featuring Carrefour, Rasasi, Sun & Sand Sports and outlets of other high-street brands. The shopping mall also has parking spaces for around 150 cars. The Grand Avenue houses around 90 retail stores, restaurants and parking spaces for 600 cars. Other top malls in Sharjah nearby the community are Al Shaab Village, Ansar Mall and Rolla Mall.
RESTAURANTS IN AL SHARQ
There are plenty of restaurants in Al Sharq serving Asian, Italian and traditional Arabic cuisine. Emirates Sea Restaurant, Dar Al Rayan Restaurant, Dallas Burger and Wadi Swat Restaurant are a few of the casual dining restaurants in the community. Those who enjoy Indian cuisine can find some of the best Indian restaurants in Sharjah within the vicinity of the neighbourhood. Momo House, Kanthari Restaurant and Nellara are a few of them. The shopping malls in Al Sharq also have several cafes and restaurants like Chili’s, McDonald’s, Tamrah Café, Waffi Street and Hay Al Qosur.
BEACHES IN AL SHARQ
Since Al Sharq is a coastal community, the best beaches in Sharjah are located nearby. It will take around 10 to 15-minute drive to visit Al Khan Beach, Al Fisht Beach and Sharjah Open Beach. Al Khan Beach is adored by visitors and locals alike as it features a wide range of water sports activities, food kiosks, tennis and volleyball courts and a library.
LEISURE ACTIVITIES AND NOTABLE LANDMARKS
Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization in Al Sharq is one of the notable landmark and famous heritage sites in Sharjah. It has thousands of Islamic art crafts displayed in seven galleries according to the theme. The achievements of Islamic science, craftwork of Ottoman Empire, manuscripts of Umayyad and Abbasid eras and weapons and metalwork of Mughals are a few exhibits of Sharjah Museum.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES, FITNESS AND BEAUTY
The community has green spaces with shaded areas where residents can come for an evening walk. Al Nasseriya Park, Al Mujarrah Park and Maysaloon Park are a few of them. Most of the parks have dedicated children’s playground and barbecue areas.
Fitness enthusiasts can keep up with their workout sessions at Asly Fitness, Atlantis Gym and Al Fehoud Body Building Gym. Ladies gyms in the area include Rawnaqfit Ladies Gym & Fitness Centre and Toronto Star Bodybuilding.
Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, Sharjah Ladies Club was established in 1982 to provide a variety of educational and recreational facilities to ladies and children under one roof. Sharjah Ladies Club has a fitness centre, beauty salon, spa, sports complex and arts & education centre. It is located near to Radisson Blu Resort along the coast.
Residents can head to the neighbouring areas of Al Sharq to attend musical performances, cultural festivals and other entertainment programs. Al Majaz Waterfront hosts annual events in Sharjah such as Sharjah Light Festival and Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
Living in Al Sharq might not be convenient for those looking for private residences as the dominant property type available in the community is apartments. Another concern will be the limited car parking areas.
