KHDA Rating

The Knowledge and Human Resource Authority (KHDA) is a project of the UAE government to regulate private schools operating in Dubai. The primary responsibility of this organisation is to evaluate the performance of schools in a year and rate them accordingly on a six-point scale as depicted below.

KHDA's six-point scale for private schools
The KHDA’s rating scale for private schools in Dubai explained

Currently, KHDA has rated The Oxford School as ‘Acceptable.’ The report highlighted areas where the school has shown promising performance including:

  • The improved system has been utilised on the premises to analyse data.
  • Students’ attainment in Islamic Education is fairly good and they tend to apply the learning in their lives as well.
  • At the senior level, students have shown good behaviour, personal responsibility and appreciation of Islamic values.
  • The Post-16 phase has witnessed good provision in terms of resources and facilities and has observed proportionate outcomes from students’ end.

Moving to weak areas of the school, the report underlines:

  • Foundation Stage and lower primary school need much better teaching and learning strategies. KHDA recommends providing training to FS teachers so they can improvise lesson plans to inculcate independent learning and better use of technology. Also, the school should support classroom learning with after-school activities.
  • Management must assist teachers to help understand assessment, including data analysis, better so that they can predict and cater to the needs of students.
  • Increase the accuracy of self-evaluation skills.
