In September 2016, The International School of Choueifat Ajman (ISC-Ajman) opened its doors to students offering classes from KG to Grade 6. Presently, it offers a trilingual education program from KG1 to Grade 11.

ISC Ajman is owned by SABIS School of network and follows the SABIS Educational System. It aims to reach a full K-12 program and offer a demanding curriculum that is always updated to remain relevant to the international community.

Al Muwaihat is the closest residential area. Other residential communities in proximity include:

Al Mowaihat is a residential community located to the south of Ajman, near the Sharjah-Ajman border. It is divided into three smaller sub-communities and offers various villas and apartments for rent and sale.

Al Rawda is located more towards the outskirts of the city, close to the Sharjah border. It was ranked among the top spots for buying and renting villas in Ajman city. Since Al Rawda is close to major highways, residents can easily commute to other emirates.

Muwafjah is also not far from The International School of Choueifat Ajman. The villa-community located in Wasit Suburb, Sharjah, has family-friendly vibes and various urban amenities within easy reach. One can find affordable villas making it a popular address among expats.

The International School of Choueifat Ajman is around 2 km from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. The school has a state-of-the-art purpose-built campus spread across 70,000 sq.m.

Premium facilities include spacious classrooms, computer and science labs, an auditorium, and a semi-Olympic-sized swimming pool. Extensive sports facilities include an indoor basketball/tennis court and an Olympic soccer field surrounded by a running track.

The KG section at ICS Ajman has an indoor swimming pool, a multi-purpose indoor court and a special car track. Students get IT-related benefits, including e-books and a computerised learning and testing centre. Each classroom in ICS Ajman has a smart TV.

ISC is one of the schools based in Al Tallah 2. It is located in the south sector of Ajman. The nearest landmark is Al Tallah Camel Race Course; the venue known for hosting famous traditional sports in the UAE is next to the school. The school is easily reachable through Sheikh Salim Bin Sultan Al Qasimi Road.

To minimise the spread of coronavirus, the government of UAE decided to reopen schools in August for the academic year 2021 – 2022 with safety guidelines. Similarly, keeping in mind the health and safety of students and staff members, the Ministry of Education has designed strict SOPs for schools to follow while they are open.

• No student, teacher or staff member will join the school before testing negative for COVID-19.
• All students and teachers must get their body temperature checked in the morning before entering the school premises.
• Classrooms will be set up to accommodate reduced capacity. Student desks will be set at a safe distance (1 meters); classrooms will use physical markings to ensure desks remain in the correct locations.
• Lockers are permitted as long as physical distancing measures are not compromised and in such a way that each locker is designated to a specific student (alternated and not shared).
• Certain play sections/areas should be closed (i.e. dress up sections, indoor soft play areas, reading corners with soft furniture). Open spaces should include furniture and equipment that is easy to clean.
• Students below 6 years (below Grade 1) are not required to wear masks.
• Students of Grade 1 and above, teachers and school staff members are required to bring a minimum of two (2) masks to school each day.
• Buses may run at full capacity but with safety measures in place.
• Seating arrangements will be clearly marked out in canteen areas; no students will be permitted to sit directly adjacent or next to one another. A physical distance of 2 meters should be kept in canteen areas.
• Schools can operate a pre-selected and pre-packed lunch service, with no live cooking taking place at school.
• School events, extracurricular activities, after-school clubs and activities are allowed with approved protocols in place.
• Schools shall resume field trips, holiday camps and sports events according to the approved protocols.
• Physical education will continue, including access to swimming pools.

ISC Ajman offers classes from KG to Grade 11.

As per the instructions of The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), all schools across the UAE will discontinue distance learning from January 2022.

The comprehensive SABIS curriculum is observed at the school. It is a well-balanced curriculum with specified daily learning goals at all grade levels.

Starting from Grade 4, the courses have a minimum number of units of information that are compulsory for students. This includes easy concepts and basic questions. The school curriculum includes extended material for more-abled students.

There is a rigorous, internationally-oriented curriculum for college preparation. Core subjects include the following:

• English
• Science
• Math
• World Languages

The academic calendar of The International School Of Choueifat – Ajman is divided into three terms.

Term 1 begins on 1st September. Students get winter holidays from 15th December to 2nd January. Classes resume from 3rd January, which is also the start of Term 2. Spring holidays last from 29th March to 9th April. 25th June is the last day of school for all students.

Interested applicants can send an admission request to the school. The criteria for The International School of Choueifat – Ajman admission is solely academic attainment. Any student who is interested in learning is accepted at the school. Parents can download, fill and submit the admission form that is available on the school’s website.

• For admission in Kindergarten, students must be four years old by September 1. KG applicants should be toilet trained. Young kids should also be able to understand and follow instructions.
• Applicants must pass a diagnostic test in basic subjects.
• As part of the admission process, students applying in KG to Grade 2 must sit for an interview through a video conferencing call.
• Those applying for Grade 3 admissions or above are asked to clear an online diagnostic test. After the test, the school will make a placement decision. If needed, the school invites students to attend extra classes during summer school.
• Details regarding interviews and appointments are discussed with parents once the online application form is submitted.
• The results of interviews and online tests are considered on a case-by-case basis. Social and emotional development and motivation are additional criteria for admission.

Some mandatory documents to be provided along with the application form include:

• Copy of parent’s and student’s valid residence visa
• Copy of student’s and parent’s passports
• Passport size photographs of the student with a white background
• Copy of student’s and parent’s valid Emirates ID card
• Copy of birth certificate
• Copy of immunisation record
• Recent school report from the previous school

The school has a transportation service for students; buses shuttle through Ajman, Dubai and Sharjah. Transport charges have to be paid in three instalments.

The International School of Choueifat encourages students to participate in sports. The annual sports day is divided into four zones where students compete for Sports Day Winners’ title. Some of the activities include throwing, running, balancing and water sports.

The school has an ISC – Ajman Under 10 boys football team participating in the Inter-Choueifat school competition. Students can also take part in the Inter-Choueifat Gymnastics Competition.

Extracurricular activities are an integral part of the SABIS Educational System. Students develop new talents, interests, hobbies, techniques and skills when participating in a range of academic, scientific and physical ECAs. ICS Ajman students can participate in tasks related to:

• Swimming

Some scheduled activities are conducted during the lunch break and on Saturday (mornings).

Field trips are occasionally planned for students throughout the academic year. Grade 1 students enjoyed their trip to Green Planet Dubai.

Some extracurricular activities are offered after-school hours.

The school nurse is responsible for handling students’ health-related issues during school hours. If any child needs medication, it should be given to the school nurse in the morning with a letter from parents or doctors. Parents are requested to mention the child’s name, class, time and dose of the medication. Students who use school transportation can hand over the medicine to bus assistants.

Parents are called to the school whenever the school deems necessary. Similarly, parents can also call the school and book an appointment if they need to discuss anything.

ICS Ajman sends three reports in an academic year at the end of each term. Parents can also meet the Academic Quality Controller and request a copy of their children’s performance report. Students can also stay back after-school hours if they need special attention.

SABIS Education has a password-protected Digital Platform that allows parents to view students’ updated progress. Parents can also view their children’s attendance, academic performance and know more about the disciplinary issues if needed. The SABIS Digital Platform also provides parents with the latest news about the school, upcoming events and calendars.
