St Mary Catholic High School Muhaisnah (SMM) is a catholic educational institute established in 2015. It is the newer branch of St Mary Catholic School in Dubai that follows the National Curriculum of England. Unlike its sister branch in Oud Metha, this campus provides education from the Foundation Stage 1 to Year 11. The school has plans to expand itself to offer sixth form education in coming years.

It is a part of St. Mary Group of Schools operating several catholic schools in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Fujairah and Sharjah. As per the last inspection report by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), there are 1,157 students taught by 78 teachers and 14 teaching assistants. The teacher to student ratio at the campus is 1:15, ensuring plenty of individual attention and care. A majority of students at the Muhaisnah campus are Indians while students from other nationalities also co-exist. The latest KHDA rating for St. Mary Catholic High School is ‘Acceptable’.

St. Mary Catholic High School in Muhaisnah has a spacious campus with high-end academic and non-academic facilities. The design of the school building is an amalgamation of traditional Arabic and modern architecture. Each room has wide windows that are decorated with tinted glasses. Outside the main gate, there is a parking spot for faculty members. Inside the building lies a reception with a large waiting area. COVID-19 Protocols

St. Mary Catholic High School, just like any other school in Dubai, has adopted the new COVID-19 protocols and guidelines issued by KHDA. KHDA has relaxed its COVID-19 protocols after considering the improved health and safety situation in Dubai. These protocols are as follows:

  • COVID-19 vaccines are not mandatory for students and staff to attend the school. Staff members that are elligible for the second dose and haven’t got the second jab yet need to submit negative PCR test every week.
  • All students must physically return to school by October 3. The remote learning programme will be offered to students that show a relevant medical certificate issued by the Dubai Health Authority. Schools can switch to distance learning if a positive COVID-19 case is identified.
  • Parents can now pick up and drop off their children from the classroom if the school allows. However, schools should ensure that parents do not have access to other facilities on campus.
  • Moreover, KHDA has reduced the minimum physical distance from 1.5 metres to 1 metre. However, schools should continue to take precautions by maintaining a safe distance. Staff members and students above six years old should wear a mask at all times.
  • Schools are now allowed to conduct swimming and sports lessons, holiday camps, extracurricular activities, after-school clubs and catering services under strict health and safety measures. Schools must clean and sanitise the changing and sports areas after each group of children.
  • Students are asked to enter the specific gates wearing facemasks. The school has to check their temperatures at the entry points. Students with body temperatures over 37.5-degree centigrade are not allowed to enter. They will be sent home with their parents.

Distance Learning

The school has a comprehensive distance-learning programme that caters to the educational needs of students during the shutdown, alternative days or those unable to physically attend the campus.

The resources used by the school include the following:

The program includes a combination of synchronous and asynchronous lectures. The live lessons are recorded so that students can access them later. The management has developed a timetable to ensure dedicated time slots for asynchronous and synchronous lectures.

As per the new COVID-19 protocols issued by KHDA, schools are discontinuing the distance learning programme from October 3, 2021. Those wishing to continue their education via distance learning have to show a relevant health certificate issued by Dubai Health Authority (DHA). The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) is the educational regulatory body in Dubai. Established in 2006, its aim is to improve and maintain the quality of education offered by institutes in Dubai. To achieve its aim, KHDA inspects the performances of schools every year and judges their performance against the six-point scale. How to Apply to St. Mary Catholic High School Muhaisnah?

The admission process at St. Mary Catholic High School is straightforward and based on five important steps.

Step 1 – Online Registration

The first process to initiate the admission process at the school is to fill the online application form available on the school website. After successful submission, the registration number for the child will be generated on the screen. Please note this number as it is vital for further processes.

Step 2 – Assessment

Parents will receive an email with an invite for the assessment. The assessment includes an entrance test and an oral interview. The entrance test is for the admissions in Year 1 and above. For the foundation stage, the school conducts an oral interview.

Step 3 – Outcome of Assessment

Please note that only the parents of successful candidates are notified about the outcome of the assessment. An email is sent to the parents with further instructions to secure the admission. Therefore, it is recommended that parents should recheck the email before submitting the online application.
