Opened in 2002, Sharjah British International School offers classes from KG 1 to Grade 12 based on the British curriculum. The aim is to educate well-rounded individuals equipped with the necessary skills such as creativity, confidence, appreciation and world awareness to create a better community. Covid-19 Protocols

  • Students and school staff who are sick are not allowed to enter the school premises.
  • The school encourages students to wash their hands frequently.
  • Using a sanitiser and wearing a mask is mandatory.
  • The school has placed hand sanitisers in key areas such as entrance and exits, classrooms, toilets and staff rooms.
  • Assemblies, sports games and other group gathering activities are temporarily suspended.
  • All desks in the classrooms are placed at least 1.5 metres apart.
  • Sharing of learning resources is not allowed.
  • The school is fully sanitised and disinfected daily. Frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs, lunch tables, window handles and toys are also sanitised regularly.
  • Ventilation points or cooling systems are also disinfected daily after school hours.

Sharjah British International School Curriculum

As the name suggests, Sharjah British School follows the British National Curriculum integrated with the Cambridge International curriculum.
Core subjects include:

  • Mathematics

General Subjects include the following:

Subjects taught as per the Ministry of Education guidelines include:

  • Arabic
  • Social Studies
  • Islamic Studies

The co-educational approach is applied in the Primary section for Grade 1 – Grade 4. By the end of Grade 6, students take CIE checkpoint exams.

Beyond Grade 5, students are divided into separate boys and girls section. Those who finish Grade 8 have to choose subjects for IGCSE.

Grade 9 to Grade 11 students appear for IGCSE examinations. They can choose their subjects from the following three options:

  • Science
  • Commerce
  • Arts

Compulsory subject for all three streams are:

  • English ( 1st and 2nd language)
  • Mathematics
  • ICT

Students have to choose additional subjects from this list:

  • Physics, Biology, Chemistry (for Science Stream)
  • Business Accounts, Economics (for Commerce Stream)
  • History, Coordinated Science, Geography, Environmental Management, Sociology (for Arts Stream)
  • Arabic as a 1st or 2nd language

Grade 12 students appear for GCE AS level examinations. They have to choose four subjects. In Grade 12 and Grade 13, these AS/A level subjects are offered to SBIS students:

  • Mathematics, English Language, English Literature, Sociology, History, ICT
  • Physics, Biology, Chemistry
  • Economics, Accounting, Business Studies

All IGCSE students have to take three compulsory subjects and choose from the list of additional subjects. Furthermore, they have to take Arabic and Islamic Studies exams following the Ministry of Education rule.

Distance Learning at Sharjah British International School

The school offered online learning during the pandemic from 08:00 am until 12:10 pm.

Students from KG1 until Grade 8 receive their homework on Google Drive and Telegram. The remaining classes receive all their notes, homework and assignments on Teams and Telegram.

Admission and Fees

How to apply to Sharjah British International School?

Sharjah British International School has a simple and easy to follow admission process. Basically, there are three easy steps for enrolment.

  • Step 1:
    • Parents are requested to make an appointment for an entrance exam by calling the school reception.
  • Step 2:
    • Students then sit for an entrance exam that is scheduled on a suitable day.
  • Step 3:
    • Fill and submit the admission form with the required documents. The form is available at the school’s main office. You can also download the form from the official website.

Parents should correctly fill the admission form and submit it to the school registrar with the registration fee of AED 500. Please note that the registration fee is non-refundable.
