Overview

Established in September 1990, School of Knowledge is a primary school in Sharjah offering classes from Kindergarten to Grade 6. The co-educational facility follows the UK National Curriculum for England and Wales and has 1,800 students and 110 teachers.

In 2012, the school was taken over by St. Mary’s Group of Schools – an organisation owned by the Catholic Church. All facilities owned by St. Mary’s Group of Schools are known for providing quality yet affordable education.

Al Ghafia, Sharjah, located between Al Azra and Al Sabkha, offers spacious villas. This family-friendly community is close to the Sharjah-Ajman border and has a well-connected transport system. Al Nuaimiya, also tucked close to the Sharjah-Ajman border, is home to some most sought-after properties in Ajman, including a mix of commercial and residential properties. Campus of School of Knowledge

School of Knowledge relocated to a new, modern campus in 2005. The two-storey building has premium facilities, including classrooms, a library, an indoor multi-purpose sports hall and a swimming pool. Students of Grade 4 to Grade 6 can use the safe and hygienic pool.

The school library, on the other hand, has a reference and study section. Junior classes have their own class libraries, and all students get a weekly library period. Computer and Science Laboratories at School of Knowledge Sharjah are well-equipped with the latest gadgets and equipment.

The SEN department at SOK has a counsellor and an SEN educator responsible for working with class teachers to support students with special education needs.

Parents are asked to go through their child’s school diary every day. They should also sign the diary and write their remarks regularly.

School of Knowledge has an iPrimary programme

iPrimary (an e-Learning) programme for English, Science and Mathematics is based on the British National Curriculum with an International Approach. The iPrimary English curriculum ensures students are engaged in learning and can effectively communicate in English. Students following iPrimary will be able to:

English teachers strive to promote high language and literacy standards and ensure that children have a strong command of the spoken and written language. Teachers pay attention to developing speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in students.

The Mathematics curriculum ensures that children develop strong mathematical basics and solve complex problems over time.

Science subjects taught at SOK help develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding. Kids are familiarised with different researches to understand the uses and implications of science in real life.

Social studies involve working with basic subjects like history, geography, and the UAE and the world’s culture.

As for languages, all SOK students have to learn Arabic as a compulsory subject. Urdu, Hindi and French are offered as optional languages.

Distance Learning at School of Knowledge

Students’ health and safety is the priority of SoK. In light of this, the school offered a distance learning program. After 21st February 2021, students were able to come to school for on-site learning.

How to Apply to School of Knowledge?

The School of Knowledge admission process starts with online registration. Interested parents should submit the online application form available on the school’s website as quickly as possible as only limited seats are available. After submitting the application form, the applicant needs to clear the entrance exam in basic subjects such as Mathematics, Science and English. The selection for admission depends on the entrance exam result and the decision of school management.

Regular sports and games classes are offered to enhance the physical and mental growth of students.

Extracurricular Activities at School of Knowledge

Students of Grade 4 to Grade 6 can participate in Cubs and Brownies based on their interest and potential. Parental approval is mandatory for participating in these tasks. Students can also engage in indoor games such as table tennis, carom and chess inside an air-conditioned hall.

Medical Care at School of Knowledge

The school doctor manages a well-equipped medical clinic. The clinic’s staff is responsible for carrying out a regular check-up. Updated general medical history and vaccination records are maintained at the school clinic.

There is a full-time nurse to deal with minor emergencies and accidents that occur during school hours. School clinic monitors height and weight assessment of students.

Mode of Communication between Teachers and Parents

Parents are kept informed about their child’s progress regularly. Parents’ visit is organised thrice in an academic year, after each examination. Parents are informed about the meeting date and time in advance. They are also welcomed to meet teachers by scheduling an appointment in advance.
