KINDERGARTEN CURRICULUM

At the lower kindergarten (LKG) and upper kindergarten (UKG) level, the primary focus is to create an atmosphere of learning where students can develop their skill in communication and numeracy. PRIMARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM

From Grade 1 to Grade 4, students’ intellectual, aesthetic, physical and cultural growth is improved through the strong foundation program. Language skills are sharpened through the school’s Communicative Approach.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CURRICULUM

For students of Grades 5 to 8, OOEHS Al Ain offers two separate curricula. In Grade 5, every student must select one curriculum combination– either CBSE or CIE. The school does not encourage a change in curriculum post grade 5.

SECONDARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM

From Grade 9 to Grade 10, students under the CBSE will be registered with All-India Secondary School Examination (AISSE) and will appear for the board examinations conducted by the same at the end of Grade 10. Subject combination at this level is:

Students under the Cambridge curriculum will appear for the secondary level examination conducted by the Board of International General Certificates of Secondary Education.

SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM

Comprising of students from Grade 11 to Grade 12, those registered under the CBSE will appear for the All-India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE). The school offers two subject combinations at this level– Science stream and Commerce stream. Islamiat (in English) is compulsory for Muslim students.

Students registered with the Cambridge curriculum sit for the General Certificates for Education (GCE) AS Level examination in Grade 11 and A-Level examination in Grade 12 conducted by the University of Cambridge International Examinations UK.

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) is a government entity that is responsible for licensing all private education institutes and monitoring their commitment to providing high-quality service in accordance with regulations. Parents looking to enrol their child at GEMS OOEHS Al Ain can enrol online. While enrolling online, parents are requested to upload the following documents:

• Copies of Parents Passport, Visa and Emirates ID
• Copies of Students Passport, Visa and Emirates ID
• Behaviour Certificate
• Mid-term report card OR final report card

Admissions commences mid-November for CBSE and late May for CIE. In both cases, admission procedures laid down by the MoE are the same. Parents must ensure that the children meet the Age Guidelines set by the Ministry of Education before enrolling online.

The following documents are expected to be submitted along with the registration form:

• 2 copies of the student’s passport with a valid visa for the UAE.
• 4 recent passport-size and 2 stamp-size photographs for the bus card.
• 2 photocopies of the Birth Certificate in English or Arabic (Along with the original).
• Students not born in the UAE must submit the attested Birth Certificate.
• Photocopy of the original mark sheet for the last examination passed at the previous school. (This is required for students from Grade 2 onwards).
• Students seeking admission to the school from Grade 2 and upwards are required to submit the original Transfer Certificate from the school last attended (in English or Arabic), duly attested as per the following guidelines:
  • Students transferring from outside the UAE must have their TC verified by the Education Officer of the Zone/District/Area from where the TC was obtained. The seal and signature of the E.O have to be attested by the respective embassies in Abu Dhabi. The TC must also have the attestation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA)
  • Students transferring from other Gulf Countries must have their TC attested by the Ministry of Education of that country, stamped by the Ministry of External Affairs of that country.
  • Students transferring from within the UAE other than Al Ain must have their TC attested by the Ministry of Education of the relevant Emirate.

For new admissions, a non-refundable/non-transferable registration fee equivalent to 5% of the annual tuition fees is expected to be paid upon acceptance of the offer letter and confirmation of enrolment in the applicable academic year. The registration fee is then adjusted against the first term tuition fee.

Students are expected to pay re-enrolment fees before the commencement of each academic year. This will be relayed to the parents in a separately issued circular.

GEMS Education Group offers a merit-based scholarship programme. Students excelling in Academics, Arts, Sports, Creative & Performing Arts, Arabic Studies or Innovation & Digital Technology have the opportunity to receive 25% to 100% concession in their tuition fees.

GEMS OOEHS Al Ain has on campus a school canteen that offers a wide range of nutritious snacks and drinks. These are made available to the students at affordable prices while maintaining a hygienic environment.

OOEHS Al Ain has outsourced its transportation to Bright Bus Transport (BBT). It is a safe and highly efficient transportation provider owned by School Transport Services (STS) LLC. The ISO-accredited transportation service ensures that the children travel in a safe and comfortable manner.

The physical fitness and health of the students are of extreme importance to the administrative team of OOEHS Al Ain. The school conducts annual inter-house sports competitions, inter-school football championships, intramural sports events and more.

In order to bring about holistic and all-rounded development of students, OOEHS Al Ain offers a combination of competitive and non-competitive activities that assists this purpose. Keeping this in mind, the school organises the following activities:
