Odyssey Nursery is an all-inclusive child development facility in the UAE. This chain of nurseries initially started operating in Khalifa City in 2015. Today, it has eight campuses in Dubai and the UAE capital.

Odyssey is known as one of the top nurseries in Abu Dhabi. The nursery follows Reggio Emilia Approach and Washington State Early-Learning and Development Benchmarks for kids. It is a trilingual nursery, as three languages are used for communicating with children. A competent and experienced teaching staff delivers a well-designed curriculum.

The campuses of Odyssey Nursery are thoughtfully designed and well-equipped, with ample space for play and learning. Each campus boasts a child-safe outdoor play area with swings and other equipment.

The classrooms are beautifully designed with wooden furniture. The outdoor areas also offer shaded spaces. Additionally, the nursery features a music room, art room, library and media centre.

The nursery has a trilingual communication system where students can learn three languages. There are many benefits of being fluent in more than two languages. Rich linguistic experience is provided at the kindergarten on full-time and weekend daycare.

Odyssey Nursery has categorised the age groups into the following phases:

Odyssey implements the Washington State Early Learning Development Benchmarks as a guide for early childhood education. This benchmark emphasises a child's holistic development across physical, emotional, linguistic, social, and cognitive domains. 

The structure of the Washington State Early Learning and Development Benchmarks is based on:

• Approaches Toward Learning
• Cognition and General Knowledge
• Language, Literacy and Communication

The nursery curriculum ensures students are confident and knowledgeable in early literacy, Mathematics, Science, Languages, Social Skills and Communication Skills.

Reggio Emilia Approach

Additionally, Odyssey incorporates the Reggio Emilia approach, which prioritises children's unique interests, competencies, and knowledge to foster independent thinking and problem-solving skills.

As per the Reggio philosophy, children have unique interests, competencies and knowledge. Children set the direction of their learning and become competent in expressing themselves. They learn through touching, observing, moving and listening. 

Reggio Emilia has these five key elements:

• Teachers focus on the ways by which kids learn
• Learning is based on children’s interest
• Parents and teachers are co-learners in early childhood education
• Besides teachers and parents, the children’s third teacher is the “classroom”
• Learning is documented

The Reggio approach and classroom environment play a pivotal role in supporting children. They can express themselves and are introduced to upcycle material. Creative work and play allow them to learn about the work and themselves. 

Trilingual Curriculum

The benefits of learning new languages at an early age are scientifically proven. Research suggests bilingual children are better at memorising than those who speak only one language. Odyssey Nursery Abu Dhabi offers French and Arabic as additional languages. At the same time, English is the medium of communication in the classroom. French classrooms are popular among students.

Parents can register their kids for admission online. A representative from Odyssey will get in touch and assist to complete the registration process. Parents must select the days and times for the child at the nursery. The nursery is open from Monday to Friday, from 07:30 am to 06:00 pm.

Fee structure is set by Kids First Group under the guidance of KHDA/ADEK established school fee framework. Parents can also avail of a 5 to 10% sibling discount on the Odyssey Nursery fees.

Odyssey Nursery believes that children learn best through hands-on experiences. Therefore, it has a specially crafted environment to nurture creativity and free thinking in kids.

Teachers involve kids in play areas. Children regularly spend their time in the music room, art room, library and media centre. The nursery also promotes physical activities in young learners through gym and sports.

The nursery has extended and flexible working hours programmes to assist parents. Currently, the nursery timings are 07:30 am to 06:00 pm to offer child care.

Odyssey promotes a healthy lifestyle for kids, offering a balanced, healthy, delicious menu. The food is freshly prepared every day for students.

With a prime focus on kids' health, the Odyssey has a nurse onboard who carries out regular checkups and provides first-aid in case of emergency. 

For security reasons, the nursery has a card-only system for parents. CCTV cameras are installed throughout the nursery for added security.

Odyssey Nursery strives to keep parents informed about their child's progress. The Educore app provides daily reports, updates on upcoming events and photos of the child to the parents. Additionally, parents can easily communicate with teachers through the app and receive prompt responses.
