The academic year at New Indian School Umm Al Quwain starts in April and ends in March. The classes for the new academic year usually commences in the first week of April. Students go on a two-month summer vacation in July and August. The school reopens in September. Then again, students go on a three-week winter holiday starting from the third week of December and ending in the first week of January. Classes resume from the second week of January and end with the annual examination and result day in the last week of March.

The school has a simple admission policy. The admission procedures are usually carried out in the last phase of the academic year. It is an inclusive school enrolling students from different backgrounds; however, the school is provisionally restricted to admit SEN students. Nevertheless, the school has a small representation of SEN students with the least number of challenges. In the case of admission requests exceeding the vacancy, the school prefers children from neighbourhood, siblings and staff’s children.

Students applying from outside the UAE must get their transfer certificate attested by the Indian Consulate and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sharjah or Dubai. Those applying from the UAE should get their transfer certificate attested by the Education Department.
