Students have to select one subject from Malayalam, Hindi and Arabic as the second language. Besides the aforementioned subjects, Islamic Education and Social Studies are mandatory subjects as per the regulations of the Ministry of Education (MOE) guidelines. For non-Muslims, Islamic Education is replaced with Moral Science.

Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) is a governmental educational body in Abu Dhabi. Established by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, ADEK aims to improve and sustain the quality of education in Abu Dhabi, Al Dharfa and Al Ain region. Through the Irtiqaa programme, ADEK inspects the performance of schools and other educational institutes in Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafrah and Al Ain regions. The performance is reviewed every 18 to 24 months and is evaluated against the following six standards of performance:

ADEK issues the performance report for schools every 18 to 24 months with an overall performance rating based on a 6-point scale. The scale includes the following ratings:

New Indian Model School Al Ain was last inspected for the academic year 2017-2018. ADEK rated the performance of the school as acceptable. The school maintained its rating as it was also rated acceptable in the previous inspection.

In the latest inspection report, NIMS Al Ain scored an acceptable rating for all the six performance standards set by ADEK. The key areas of strength observed for this school are:

ADEK recommended the school to raise students’ attainment in all subjects, specifically mathematics, science and Arabic.

• To improve students’ attainment in mathematics, New Indian Model School should develop an understanding of basic rules of mathematics among KG, primary and middle school phases. It can improve students’ mental mathematics and arithmetic calculations by deploying the knowledge of multiplication tables. Furthermore, the school must provide opportunities for students to use knowledge and mathematics skills for practice.
• To improve KG and primary students’ attainment in science, the school should develop independent learning skills of students and allow them to explore. Moreover, NIMS Al Ain can develop students’ skills in evaluating scientific concepts.
• To improve reading skills in Arabic, the school needs to develop effective plans and improve provision to allow students to read Arabic more.
• Additionally, teachers must use the data to improve the academic challenges offered to students. The school can also use group tasks to engage all students in similar activities.

They also recommended the New Indian Model School Al Ain to develop the research skills of students. By building such skills. For this purpose, they advised the school to equip specialised teaching and learning resources for students.

NIMS Al Ain also needs to work on the behaviour management skills of teachers to deal with low-level disruptions. For this purpose, teachers need to implement rigorous classroom routines and higher expectations from students. They also recommend teachers to use positive and negative reward systems for behaviour management.

To improve the quality of teaching, teachers and leadership should focus on teaching’s impact on students when monitoring quality.

NIMS Al Ain can also improve the resources to keep students engaged during break time and physical education sessions.

The academic year of NIMS Al Ain starts in April and ends in March. The classes for the new academic year commences from the second week of April. Students go on a 2-month summer break in July and August. The classes resume in the first week of September till the second week of December. This is followed by a 3-week winter holiday from the third week of December to the first week of January. The completed registration form and supporting documents can be submitted to the school registration office from 08:30 am to 01:00 pm and 04:30 to 05:30 pm (Sunday to Thursday). They can also be submitted on Saturday from 09:30 am to 12:30 pm.
