Overview

Established in 1985, MSB Private School Dubai aims to deliver modern education aligned with Shariah guidelines to boys and girls aged 3 to 16 years. Formerly known as Al Ameen Private School, it has two campuses; one for primary and one for secondary section. Owned by MSB Educational Institutes, MSB Private School Dubai was founded by Dr Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin.

MSB Dubai follows the British National Curriculum and is affiliated to the Cambridge University for offering the IGCSE syllabus. Classes from Kindergarten to Year 11 are offered at MSB Private School Dubai. Students are encouraged to memorise the Holy Quran.

MSB’s vision is to prepare students to handle the 21st-century challenges and at the same time, become familiar with Islamic values. Presently, there are 850 students including 45 children with SEN requirements, 75 teachers and 18 teaching assistants. Teacher to student ratio is 1:11. The school was awarded the ‘Very Good’ KHDA rating in the 2019-20 academic year.

MSB Private School has two campuses. The modern Primary section campus was built in 2004 and offers facilities for Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 students. These include spacious classrooms, activity rooms, a library, an ICT lab and play areas.

MSB Secondary School campus is almost 100 metres away from the Primary school building. The 3-storey modern facility has four science labs, an ICT lab and a library. It also has a 32,000 sq. ft. sports field and covered play area.

The secondary school library has fiction, non-fiction books and encyclopedias. Students are encouraged to use e-learning. In fact, MSB Dubai has subscribed to myON, an online library for interesting, age-appropriate themed learning content.

There are three multi-purpose halls for secondary students. These can be used for different activities, events and workshops. The primary section campus has a large auditorium with a state-of-the-art audio-video system and a capacity to accommodate 250 people. The secondary section campus also has two spacious halls with workstations and projectors.

Covid-19 Protocols

The Government of Dubai has developed protocols for schools to follow until the pandemic is over. This is an accumulative effort and approach to keep everyone safe and healthy, including students, teachers, parents, and relevant third parties.

The KHDA has uploaded FAQs for schools on the official website for your convenience. Here’s an overview of the preventive SOPs in place.

  • Sterilising the school building, classrooms, laboratories and other facilities regularly, according to the recommendations of the National Authority for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management.
  • Assessing the temperature of everyone who enters the school building daily.
  • Maintaining physical distance guidelines as recommended by the relevant health authorities and reducing the headcount capacity in classrooms.
  • From this academic year, 1-metre distancing is recommended. Schools must take appropriate precautions to ensure that students and teachers stay physically distanced where possible.
  • Buses may run at full capacity provided they comply with health and safety protocols.
  • Schools shall reinstate Physical Education, swimming lessons and sports activities. Changing rooms and sports areas will be sanitised after each group of students
  • The canteen shall reopen and resume live cooking
  • School trips, excursions and holiday camps shall be resumed. 
  • After-hours care, extra-curricular activities, performances, assemblies and other events at school or external venues are allowed.
  • Students older than six years, staff and visitors to schools must continue to wear face masks.
  • Vaccination is not compulsory. Unvaccinated school staff must submit a negative PCR test each week. Students are not obliged to submit negative PCR tests.
  • From October 3rd 2021, all teaching and learning at Dubai private schools will only be face-to-face. Students who wish to continue with distance learning after the stated date must provide a medical certificate issued by Dubai Health Authority.

MSB Private School Curriculum

MSB School follows the National Curriculum of England from Foundation Stage until Year 8. IGCSE curriculum is implemented from Year 9 to Year 11.

Students follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum during the Foundation Stage.

Key Stage 1 includes Year 1 and Year 2. At the start of Year 1, students are introduced to literacy, numeracy and basic scientific concepts. As per MoE requirements, students also study Arabic, Social Studies and Islamic Studies. Art and Design are incorporated to foster a cross-curricular approach.

During Key Stage 2 (Year 3 to Year 6) and Key Stage 3 (Year 7 to Year 8), students are encouraged to study independently. Subjects taught during Key Stage 1 are continued in Key Stage 2 and 3. The teaching approach during these years is based on research, investigation, questioning, project and collaborations.

Project-based learning is introduced in MSB to enhance student-led learning. Year 8 students are offered career counselling and career search assessment so they can choose their IGCSE subjects wisely.

Key Stage 4 includes Year 10 and Year 11. IGCSE courses offered by the University of Cambridge during these years include:

MSB Dubai believes that students learn better if the concepts are interlinked. Therefore, the curriculum is mapped across each level to create effective cross-curricular links.

To bridge the gap between academics and life after school, students in Year 10 and Year 11 are offered the chance to get training on the job.

Distance Learning at MSB Private School

As per the new COVID-19 protocols issued by KHDA, schools are discontinuing the distance learning programme from October 3, 2021. Those wishing to continue their education via distance learning have to show a relevant health certificate issued by Dubai Health Authority (DHA). Schools may revert back to distance learning if COVID-19 cases are detected in a class or a group in a class.

KHDA Rating

The school received a Good rating from the regulatory authority from 2010 to 2019. MSB was awarded the Very Good rating in the 2019-20 academic year – a clear indicator of the school’s ability to make improvements. The KHDA inspected the school from 4th to 6th November 2019.

According to the MSB Private School KHDA rating and report, teachers have very good subject knowledge and make effective use of assessment data to plan lessons and make them more interesting. Every child is encouraged to take part in student-led projects.

Academic Calendar for MSB Private School

The academic year at MSB School Dubai starts in August and ends in June.

  • The first term starts in the last week of August and ends in the second week of December, followed by a 3-week winter break.
  • The second term starts in the first week of January and ends in the last week of March, followed by a 2-week spring break.
  • The third term starts in the second week of April and ends in the first week of July, followed by a 2-month summer break.

Admission and Fees

How to Apply To MSB Private School?

Those interested in MSB Private School admissions can use the registration form available on the school’s website. Once the student is registered, Parents will receive an acknowledgement email with admission details. Parents are then requested to submit the required documents to proceed with the admission.

Students looking to join the school from Year 1 to Year 10 should clear the placement test that tests their knowledge in English and Maths. FS1 applicants are only assessed to judge their readiness to join the school. This assessment is conducted in a group and students and parents are also interviewed after assessment. Please note that admissions depend on the assessment results. The school notifies parents via email within two weeks of the test. Students with a confirmed seat will have to complete the registration process. All parents are required to sign the KHDA parent-school contract.

MSB Private School gives priority to siblings of students who are already enrolled. However, they should also fulfil the entrance criteria to secure admission. Admission requirements are mentioned on the school website.

Documents required to complete the admission process include:

  • Photocopy of the birth certificate
  • Passport size photographs
  • Copy of most recent school report cards
  • Passport copy that has UAE visa of both the student and parents
  • Copy of Emirates ID of student and parents
  • Attested school transfer certificate (applicable from FS2 onwards)
  • Immunisation card
  • Any psychological diagnostic assessment reports or screening forms to determine learning difficulties

Please note that all documents must be in English.

A SEND candidate is admitted based on the latest assessment data (shouldn’t be more than two years old). The result should mention the type or level of difficulty and the support needed. At the time of assessment, the school will require the complete medical history of the child.

All documents are reviewed and students are shortlisted for the assessment test after payment of a non-refundable fee of AED 350.

If the number of applications exceeds the number of available seats, prospective students are placed on a waiting list.

Re-registration is required and re-enrolment must be completed by the specified date. If the re-registration process is not completed, the school reserves the right to offer the seat to a new student.

Lunch Options at MSB Private School

The school canteen serves students and staff members. The menu is reviewed weekly to ensure that healthy options are included. Students can also bring packed lunches from home. Parents are requested to inform the school about any allergies a student has.

School Transportation at MSB Private School

The school offers transport services. Parents have to ensure children reach their designated bus stop before the pickup time. Please note that the school can change vehicles, drivers and staff without notice. Similarly, bus routes can be changed by the school management. Students have to wear their ID card while travelling on the bus. If a student no longer wants to use the school transport service, an application form should be submitted. Note that reimbursements are not entertained without the form.

Transport charges are fixed. The service is charged for 10 months (from September to June). The charges for different areas are:

Extracurricular Activities at MSB Private School

Extracurricular activities are an important part of MSB School Dubai curriculum. The Foundation Stage school has an activity room where students engage in different developmental activities such as cooking, ironing and playing with water and sand.

Counting bricks, measuring weights and mobbing objects are included under construction activities. Water play improves physical strength and fosters cognitive development. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) approach is also incorporated via extracurricular activities.

Art and Design studios are part of a specially designed curriculum to enhance artistic and creative talents in students. Different modules are incorporated in the session with a range of textiles, 3D design, collage making and Photoshop activities.

The school organises events such as Earth Day, Robotic Expo and the UAE National Day.

Safety of students is the priority during a field trip. Child to staff ratio is carefully calculated and risk assessments are done before embarking on field trips.

Field trips are charged at AED 350 for FS1 to Year 8 and AED 700 for Year 9 onwards.

After-School Care at MSB Private School

Medical Care At MSB Private School

The fully-equipped on-site clinic provides medical care and organises immunisation programs. Health-related talks and checks are carried out at the school clinic as instructed by the DHA.

Registered and full-time nurses licensed by the DHA as well as a part-time, licensed doctor are available at the junior and senior campuses.

The school nurse maintains health records of every student. Eye examinations are conducted as a part of vision screening and BMI is also checked. Students who require medication during school hours must bring them in a secure and labelled container. All medications have to be administered by the school nurse or doctor.
