School Details

COVID-19 Protocols

ADEK has worked extensively with schools, parents councils, staff members and policymakers to design effective safety measures to implement once schools reopen for the 2021 – 2022 academic session. Here’s a summary of SOPs to give you a better understanding.

  • Those entering the school premises must wear a face mask. KG students are exempted. Students and staff who cannot wear masks due to medical conditions must provide a supportive medical certificate.
  • Daily temperature and symptoms screening is recommended before leaving the house. Individuals who exhibit symptoms or feel unwell must stay at home. They must see a doctor for assessment and possible COVID-19 testing if required.
  • Individuals aged 16 and above who have completed 28 days following the second dose with a UAE-approved vaccine are authorised to enter the school premises upon presenting their vaccination status on the ALHOSN app.
  • Children below 16 are authorised to enter the school premises without vaccination.
  • The school shall implement physical distancing of 1 to 2 metres between all individuals.
  • Schools may follow three operating models: A full school day, attending on a rotational basis or blended learning model.
  • Schools are authorised to reopen all athletic facilities for use during physical education (PE), extracurricular activities, and for private use by staff outside of regular school hours.
  • Schools shall reinstate PE (including swimming) classes and all sports activities, provided they are implemented with the relevant risk mitigation controls in place.
  • Whether organised by the school or by an external provider, extracurricular activities shall be permitted for students enrolled in the school only.
  • Events within the school consisting of large assemblies mixing different student groups are not permitted.
  • School trips, holiday camps and inter-school events shall be resumed.
  • Cooking on the school premises is authorised and schools are recommended to reopen canteens if they were previously closed. However, food must be served by a designated staff member to avoid sharing serving utensils.
  • Prayer rooms may be reopened.
  • Schools are recommended to reopen libraries if they were previously closed.
  • Bus capacity has been increased from 50% to between 59% and 66%.

Kindergarten Curriculum

From the kindergarten level, the curriculum emphasises skill-based learning and activities. It focuses on:

  • Literacy: KG students learn the English Alphabet and its role in reading, writing, practising rhyming and associating sounds with letters. 
  • Communication, Language and Literacy: The curriculum explores communication skills, pre-reading skills (visual and auditory perception) and pre-writing skills.
  • Numeracy: KG students are introduced to the world of Mathematics. By the end of kindergarten, students will learn foundational principles of mathematics, such as addition, subtraction, numbers with lesser and greater value, numbers in sequence and more. 
  • Art and Craft: The curriculum encourages students to explore their creativity. Children learn to develop artistic skills in a relaxed environment.
  • Music: Children learn topic-based songs, songs with actions and fun songs.
  • General Knowledge: Students learn about plants, animals and the environment through exploration.

Primary Curriculum

The primary school comprises of Grade 1 to Grade 5. Subjects explored at the primary level are as follows:

  • English: The language program offered at MPS covers the four parts of communication — listening, speaking, writing and reading. Grammar is also taught at this level.
  • Mathematics: The math program stresses the interconnectedness of knowledge, skills and concepts. 
  • Science: Students develop critical thinking, problem-solving and decision making skills that benefit the community as well as the environment. 
  • Social Studies: The curriculum also incorporates UAE social studies alongside world social studies to honour the country’s history and culture.

Besides the subjects mentioned above, students also have classes in Music, Physical Education and Art and Craft. They also learn a second language subject and Islamic/Moral Education.

Secondary School Curriculum

From Grade 6 to Grade 12, students learn the foundation subjects they explored in previous grade levels in more detail. Subjects offered are:

Distance Learning at Mayoor Private School

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) discontinues distance learning for all schools across the UAE from January 2022.

Academic Calendar for Mayoor Private School

The academic year at MPS is split into three terms. These take place as follows:

  • The first term commences in the second week of April and concludes in the first week of July. Summer break lasts for two months.
  • After the summer break, the second term starts in the last week of August and ends in the second week of December. Winter break takes place for two weeks. 
  • The third term commences in the first week of January and concludes in the third week of March. Students then enjoy Spring Break before returning to school for the next academic year.

How to Apply to Mayoor Private School?

To register at Mayoor Private School Abu Dhabi, follow these guidelines:

  • Fill out and submit the online registration form. Keep in mind the age requirements and guidelines before enrolment and ensure all fields are duly filled. Scan the following documents to prepare soft copies for uploading:

    • Copy of Passport with valid Residence Visa (both first and last page) 

    • Copy of Emirates ID (Front and Back) 

    • Six recent passport size photographs

    • Copy of attested Birth certificates

    • Copy of Immunization records 

    • Copy of Insurance card (Front and Back) 

    • Copy of previous school records (if applicable)

    • Copy of attested transfer certificate (if applicable)

  • For admissions from India, the transfer certificate needs to be attested by:

    • The District Education Officer/CBSE Regional Office (The Transfer Certificate has to be verified by the Education Office/CBSE Regional Office of the Zone/District/Area, where the T.C. has been obtained).
    • The Indian Consulate/Embassy (The seal and signature of the Education Officer/CBSE Regional Office has to be attested by the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi)
    • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (UAE)

     

  • For admissions from other countries, the Transfer Certificate must be attested by:

    • The Ministry of Education and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and by the UAE consulate/embassy located in the country
  • For admissions from any other Emirate besides Abu Dhabi, the Transfer certificate must be attested by:

    • The Ministry of Education over and above the attestation from the respective school
  • Parents must submit the following documents as well:

    • Copy of Passports of Father and Mother (First and Last page) and Valid residence Visa
    • Copy of Emirates ID (Front and Back)
    • Copy of recent Electricity Bill
  • The soft copies of the documents above are due for registration. Upon admission, parents have to submit these documents to the school.

Al Mayoor Private School has a spacious dining facility that can accommodate 500 students. The cafeteria is well laid out, has a separate serving area and serves healthy snacks and drinks to students.

School Transportation at MPS Abu Dhabi

Mayoor Private School offers a bus transportation service for the safety and convenience of the students. The facility covers all areas around Abu Dhabi, except Saadiyat Island, Raha Island and Khalifa City B.

Holiday Camps at Mayoor Private School

MPS organises camps and international during the spring, summer and winter holidays. Students can take part in various foreign exchange programs arranged by the school.

One such instance is the students’ visit to Prague for a Creativity Activity Service program. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn time management, communication and productivity skills. Students also visited the National Theatre of Music and the Prague Castle.
