Overview

Established in 1980, Indian School Fujairah is a private school that follows the Indian curriculum from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Presently, there are 1,200 students and 70 teaching staff members. The primary language of instruction at the school is English and the teacher to student ratio is 1:20.

Following the Kerala board of education, students appear for the Kerala Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exams in Grade 10 and Higher Secondary Education exams in Grades 11 and 12. Commendation certificates are awarded to encourage students and motivate them to perform better in both academics and non – scholastic fields.

Indian School Fujairah has a well-facilitated campus with different play areas for KG, Primary and Secondary sections. There is a football pitch with artificial turf for students. For science subjects, there are well-equipped Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories. Separate computer labs for Primary and Secondary sections are part of the school campus.

Students can offer their daily prayers in the mosque and there is a separate prayer room for the girls. There is a huge auditorium that hosts school events. Reading habits are instilled in students with the help of a well-stocked school library.

COVID-19 Protocols

To minimise the spread of coronavirus, the government of UAE decided to reopen schools in August for the academic year 2021 – 2022 with safety guidelines. Similarly, keeping in mind the health and safety of students and staff members, the Ministry of Education has designed strict SOPs for schools to follow while they are open.

  • No student, teacher or staff member will join the school before testing negative for COVID-19. 
  • All students and teachers must get their body temperature checked in the morning before entering the school premises.
  • Classrooms will be set up to accommodate reduced capacity. Student desks will be set at a safe distance (1 meters); classrooms will use physical markings to ensure desks remain in the correct locations.
  • Lockers are permitted as long as physical distancing measures are not compromised and in such a way that each locker is designated to a specific student (alternated and not shared). 
  • Certain play sections/areas should be closed (i.e. dress up sections, indoor soft play areas, reading corners with soft furniture). Open spaces should include furniture and equipment that is easy to clean.
  • Students below 6 years (below Grade 1) are not required to wear masks. 
  •  Students of Grade 1 and above, teachers and school staff members are required to bring a minimum of two (2) masks to school each day.
  • Buses may run at full capacity but with safety measures in place. 
  • Seating arrangements will be clearly marked out in canteen areas; no students will be permitted to sit directly adjacent or next to one another. A physical distance of 2 meters should be kept in canteen areas.
  • Schools can operate a pre-selected and pre-packed lunch service, with no live cooking taking place at school. 
  • School events, extracurricular activities, after-school clubs and activities are allowed with approved protocols in place.
  • Schools shall resume field trips, holiday camps and sports events according to the approved protocols.
  • Physical education will continue, including access to swimming pools**.**

Grades OFFERED AT INDIAN SCHOOL FUJAIRAH

Indian School Fujairah offers classes for students aged 4 to 18 years. These classes are divided into Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary sections. Classes are offered in a co-educational setup until Grade 4. Grades 5 to 12 only cater to girls.

INDIAN SCHOOL FUJAIRAH CURRICULUM

ISF is affiliated with the Board of Higher Secondary Education – Kerala, India and follows the  Kerala board of education curriculum. Students are assessed through weekly tests including written, oral and assignments. Monthly test reports are compiled and sent to parents.

Continuous Evaluation is introduced for children studying in KG, Grade 1 and Grade 2. Students are awarded grades.

The school’s curriculum is comprehensive, well-designed and focuses on the importance of practical education and experimenting to develop the overall personality of the child. Special emphasis is on teaching written and spoken English at all levels. A structured yet flexible study scheme is developed for creating links between KG and Primary subjects.

During the Primary level, the school emphasises on the development-based curriculum. Students are introduced to essential concepts in various subjects. Students’ progress is monitored closely through regular assessments.

Students are taught about religion and social responsibilities through subjects including Islamic Studies and Moral Instruction. Reading, Creative Writing, Mathematics and Science are included as core subjects.

During the three years of Middle School, students’ physical, and intellectual skills are developed. This way, they can easily adapt to the Indian curriculum as well as other internationally recognised teaching systems.

Distance Learning at Indian School Fujairah

As per the instructions of The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), all schools across the UAE will discontinue distance learning from January 2022.

Admission and Fees

HOW TO APPLY TO INDIAN SCHOOL FUJAIRAH?

Indian School Fujairah admissions open in November every year. Parents can fill the online registration form available on the school website. The school then communicates the availability of seats depending upon the chosen grade.

When the form is successfully submitted and accepted by the school, the student has to appear for an entrance test. This test will evaluate the student’s knowledge in English, Mathematics and Science. For Grade 1 to Grade 7, the duration of the entrance test is two hours. For Grade 8 to Grade 12, the duration of the exam is three hours.

Essential documents, colour copies that must be submitted with the application form include:

  • Passport copy of the child with a valid residence visa
  • Passport copy of the father with a valid residence visa
  • Copy of birth certificate
  • Copy of the Immunisation card
  • Emirates ID card of the child (original) (The original Emirates ID will be returned immediately after it has been scanned)
  • Two copies of the Emirates ID card of the child
  • Copies of the Emirates ID card of the father
  • Three passport size photographs of the student with a blue background
  • Duly filled medical history form
  • Transfer certificate (only for Grade 1)
  • Transfer certificate attested by D.E.O or A.E.O (state government schools), Dubai Consulate, The Ministry of External Affairs (Fujairah) – (Applicable for Grade 1 to 12 Grade only)

The school adheres to the Ministry of Private Education admission guidelines.

Students seeking admission in Grade 2 or above should submit their original (attested) Transfer Certificate/School Leaving Certificate.

For students from India, the original transfer certificate should be verified by the Education officer of the Zone/District/Area.

Students coming from ICSE and CBSE schools should get their TC attested from the respective boards. The seal of the Education Officer must be attested by the Indian Consulate in Dubai.

Students coming from any other have to submit the original Transfer Certificate/School Leaving Certificate of the last attended school. It should also be duly attested by the Ministry of Education of that emirate.

Registration should be completed prior to the admission; the registration fee is non-refundable.

Parents can pay the fee in ten instalments; monthly payments have to be made before the 10th of every month. Fees can be paid via credit and debit card.

ISF has outsourced transport services. The school is entitled to take disciplinary actions against students who misbehave during the bus journey.

SPORTS FACILITIES AT INDIAN SCHOOL FUJAIRAH

The school offers premium sports facilities. Kindergarteners have a dedicated playground with a soft play floor and suitable toys. Junior section has a shared pathway that can be used as a playground. There is a 2,400 sq. m. football ground with artificial turf. The 300 sq. m. indoor sports hall is located next to the auditorium. Coaching facilities are available after school hours.

MODE OF COMMUNICATION BETWEEN PARENTS AND TEACHERS

Indian School Fujairah arranges parent-teacher meetings every month where parents can discuss their child’s performance. A complete progress report, known as the Student’s Dossier, is available with the class teacher.

Parents can meet the school principal from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm by prior appointment.

Parents Teachers Management Association is formed for promoting cooperation between the stakeholders. The association members include teachers, parents and student body representatives from Kindergarten to Higher Secondary levels.
