Why GEMS Modern Academy?

The teachings of the GEMS Modern Academy mainly revolve around the school’s philosophy. For this purpose, they only hire trained and professional teachers with adequate experience in teaching. To offer the best educational experience, the teaching staff including the headteachers undergo regular training and feedback reviews. This way, the GEMS Modern Academy ensures the continuous development of its teaching staff.

To help Modern Academy students become more exemplary and vibrant, the educational institution has created an environment focused on advancing student learning through opportunities in every field from academic to arts and sports.

As part of the pastoral care system that focuses on the holistic development of students, the GEMS Modern Academy follows a house system to inculcate the concepts of solidarity and teamwork. Fostering a competitive spirit among its children, students are divided into different ‘houses’. Varieties of inter-house events including sporting and literary activities take place in the calendar year. These sporting and literary activities are perfect training grounds to help students compete at higher levels.

Another purpose of the House System at the GEMS Modern Academy is to inculcate a cooperative spirit, develop loyalty and initiate healthy competition. A Captain, who works under the guidance of House Teachers, heads each House. Pupils are divided into four houses namely:

  • Aquila House (represented by the Eagle)
  • Cygnus House (represented by the Swan)
  • Orion House (represented by the Hunter)
  • Pegasus House (represented by the Winged Horse)

Another reason parents consider the GEMS Modern Academy is because it is a part of the GEMS Education group. Schools within the GEMS Education Group are interconnected with each other which results in learning and adopting new skills from other international schools. Students have access to the best educational system, teaching techniques and strategies adopted by other GEMS schools.

Celebrating the cultural heritage of India, the school believes in upholding traditional values. To promote patriotism and unity, the school celebrates various festivals such as Republic Day, Independence Day, Eid, Diwali, and Christmas. Additionally, the GEMS Modern Academy also embraces the traditions of the UAE and sends students for Umrah, conducts classes on Islamic studies and celebrates occasions such as National Day and Martyrs Day.

Mode of Communication between Teachers and Parents

GEMS Modern Academy has a parent portal that allows easy access to key information. In addition, GEMS believes in assisting students to reach their maximum potential. This is why GEMS has introduced its Parental engagement programme across all of its schools. The programme helps in providing opportunities for parents to engage with the learning and development of their child. It also helps them develop an improved understanding of engagement strategies along with the fulfilment of the learning needs of the student.

Every GEMS school has successfully developed its personal engagement programme that can fulfil the particular needs of its community. However, some basic attributes are required by every GEMS school. These include:

  • Recognition of the central role played by parents in the learning and teaching process of students;
  • Intimating parents of programmes of students. This allows to provide support where necessary;
  • Providing necessary tools and guidance parents require to support the learning and development needs of their child;

The three-day parental engagement approach is a mobile application by the GEMS Modern Academy. It is a tool that helps parents provide inspiration and encouragement for the children. The application is a tool that provides regular ideas to parents to get themselves involved in the education of their children. The application is based on pragmatic advice from counsellors and teachers. It includes three important sections:

  • Activities to Share
  • Something to talk about
  • Guidance that can help children
