Dubai British School, Jumeirah Park (DBSJP) was launched due to the extensive demand of its sister school, Dubai British School (DBS) in the Meadows. Since the school could not afford an extension of the premises, DBSJP opened its doors in 2015. The school is located on Al Worood Street in Jumeirah Park.

A project of Taleem Foundation, DBSJP is an all-through school. It offers education starting from Foundation until Secondary levels. Students opt for the International General Certificate of Secondary Examination (IGCSE). Dubai British Foundation, a purpose-built school offering EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum, is a mere 5-minute drive from the DBSJP.

Dubai British School, Jumeirah Park, follows the National Curriculum of England and is a private and co-education institution. The school has over 1,000 students, 103 teachers and 36 teaching assistants. The teacher to student ratio is 1:11 – a clear sign that teachers give individual attention to students in the classroom. Dubai British School, Jumeirah Park Curriculum

The Dubai British School curriculum is divided into primary school, secondary school, and Sixth Form. The school follows the English National Curriculum at all levels.

Primary Level

At the primary level, students learn the best national numeracy and national literacy strategies based on the British curriculum. Subjects offered at this stage include English, Language and Literature, Mathematics, Science, Design and Technology, Computing, History, Geography, Music/Dance/Drama, Physical Education (PE) and Arabic.

Year 3 and Year 6 students can opt for optional languages such as French and Spanish. Also, Year 6 students must appear for the Standard Attainment Tests (SATs). These tests and the curriculum allow students to develop the skills, knowledge, and understanding they need for the secondary level.

Secondary Level

The secondary level includes Key Stages 3 and 4. The school follows the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE). Students appear for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination in Year 11. Students are offered Arabic and Arabic Social Studies. Islamic Education is available for Muslim students.

Subjects to be attempted in GCSE and IGCSE are divided into compulsory and optional courses.

The Sixth Form is Key Stage 5; it includes Years 12 and 13. Students are prepared to become part of the global community. They can apply for a spot at both local and international universities. The Sixth Form culminates in A (Advanced) Level examinations.

KHDA Rating

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) is a governmental body established to supervise private schools in Dubai. It analyses schools on various parameters, including the curriculum, facilities, teaching methods, student behaviour, attitude and growth and the overall management. KHDA then rates schools on a six-point scale ranging from ‘Outstanding’ to ‘Very Weak.’

Academic Calendar for Dubai British School, Jumeirah Park

The 10-month long Dubai British School calendar is divided into three terms. A synopsis of the DBSJP school academic calendar is presented below:

  • The first term starts in the last week of August and ends in the second week of December. A 2-week winter break follows the end of the first term.
  • The second term begins in the first week of January and ends in the last week of March, followed by a two-week spring break.
  • The third term starts in the second week of April and ends in the first week of July. Students are then given a two-month summer break.

Admission and Fees

How to Apply?

The Dubai British School admission process has three major steps.

Step 1

The application process starts as soon as parents download the application form. Parents/guardians need to submit the duly completed form online. Once you have sent the filled application form, you will receive a confirmation email detailing step 2 on the ID provided on the form.

Step 2

The email sent by the school will provide details of the supporting documents necessary to move forward with the application or registration process. Also, parents will need to pay a one-time non-refundable registration fee. The documents include:

  • Six recent passport-size photographs of the child
  • Two copies of the child’s birth certificate in Arabic or English (Certificates in other languages need to be translated and attested by your embassy or consulate)
  • Two copies of the child’s passport and residence visa
  • One copy each of the parent or guardian’s passport and residence visa
  • One copy each of the child and parent/guardian’s Emirate ID (both sides)
  • A recent copy of the child’s medical record and vaccination card
  • A copy of the child’s most recent stamped and signed school report on the school letterhead
  • If applicable, one copy of the educational assessment, diagnostic test and psychological assessment
  • Application fee of AED 525 including 5% tax (non-refundable)
  • Transfer Certificate

You can either email scanned documents or submit hard copies to the school’s admissions department.

Step 3

After submitting mandatory documents, parents will receive an email confirming the assessment test day and date. The teachers and the admissions department will conduct this test. After assessing and offering an acceptance letter, you will need to deposit a fee to reserve a seat.

Debenture

 Dubai British School entertains corporate debentures by invitation. Companies can reserve the available school place and receive priority during placement in DBSJP or any other Taleem Foundation schools and pre-schools.

The third (youngest) sibling gets a 10% discount on admission to any of the schools operating under the Taleem Foundation.

The one-time application fee (non-refundable) is AED 525, including 5% VAT. Also, new students have to pay a registration fee of AED 4,000 in the first term. A re-registration fee of AED 2,000 applies to students that return to the school or apply for readmission.

Lunch Options at Dubai British School, Jumeirah Park

The school has hired caterers to provide hot meals and drinks to students. DBSJP has strict rules for the food available in the school canteen. The meals must be healthy with maximum nutritional value. It prohibits junk food except for special occasions such as birthdays and school events.

Also, the menu is made available to parents well in advance through the canteen display and the school portal. Similarly, lunch boxes provided by parents are monitored daily by the staff to discourage the consumption of unhealthy foods.

Taleem Foundation and Dubai British School have outsourced school transport to Arab Falcon Bus Rental LLC. Buses provided by this company are well-maintained and adhere to all safety standards and guidelines outlined by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
