City American School (CAS) Ajman is a newly developed American school offering high-quality education to students. It was established in Al Tallah 2 by R Education and Academic Development (READ) in September 2020. READ has two other educational institutes in Ajman, including the City School in the same locality. His Highness Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, who is the owner of READ, is the chairperson of the board of trustees of City American School.

The school is located on a 1 million sq. ft. campus with extraordinary academic and non-academic facilities. It follows the US National Curriculum based on the California Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards. It is under the process of accreditation by AdvancED – a reputable educational body responsible for recognising US schools across the world. Currently, the school caters to the educational needs of students in kindergarten and elementary stages.

Al Muwaihat 2 is the nearest residential community from the school. The school is at a 7-minute drive from the centre of the community. School Details

COVID-19 Protocols

The government of UAE collaborated with relevant ministries and stakeholders to come up with a set of protocols to safely reopen schools during the pandemic. These protocols are established to minimise the risk of COVID-19 spreading in educational sectors in the UAE. Schools have to strictly comply with these regulations to ensure a safe learning environment for students. The protocols are as follows:

  • Schools must check the temperature of students and staff before entering the premises. No one with the temperature above 37.5-degree centigrade is allowed to enter the school.
  • Social distancing must be ensured at all times. A minimum distance of 2 metres is recommended. Schools also need to reduce the capacity of buses to ensure students can practice social distancing.
  • Schools need to periodically sterilise the campus and its facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, resources and frequently contacted surfaces.
  • Catering services will be managed as per their specific guidelines. Sharing of food is strictly prohibited during the pandemic. Parents are encouraged to send their children along with home-packed lunch boxes.
  • Children with special health conditions will be monitored closely by the ministry.
  • Limit activities, such as extracurricular events, after-school programmes, field trips and clubs, that may result in gathering large crowds.
  • Sports facilities, such as swimming pools, shall remain close until further notice. Physical education will continue at the campus.
  • Cleaning teams and maintenance crew is not allowed to enter the campus in presence of students.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPEs) to protect yourself and others from the COVID-19 disease. Students below six years old are not required to wear a mask.
  • The school fee remains the same for the current academic year. Schools can offer discounts to parents as they deem fit.

City American School (CAS) Ajman follows US Education based on the California Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Kindergarten Curriculum

Kindergarten stage is one of the crucial phases of education in the life of a student. In this stage, City American School focuses on building fundamental skills and motor skills that are beneficial in the subsequent phases of education. The kindergarten curriculum is centred around the development of students using play and other informal learning methods. Teachers use active and informative forms of learning to target a variety of skills, such as societal awareness, intellect, cognition, physicality, semantics and emotional intelligence.

The school introduces students to a multitude of experiences by following an integrated curriculum based on the CCSS and NGSS.  The essential learning areas of the KG curriculum are:

Elementary Stage Curriculum

In the elementary stage, the school focuses on utilising the fundamental skills taught in the kindergarten stage. It follows the US Curriculum based on the California Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards. The school gradually introduced students to formal teaching methods  over the five years of education.

The government of Dubai has mandated schools to offer distance learning provisions besides in-class learning, especially in the first phase of reopening. Distance learning format might differ from school to school and term to term, but students opting for this model will be kept updated on the curriculum followed.

Academic Calendar for City American School

The academic year of the City American School in Ajman starts in August and ends in July. Like most international schools in the UAE, the first term starts in the last week of August and ends in the second week of December. The second term starts in the first week of January and ends in the fourth week of March. The last term starts in the second week of April and ends in the first week of June.

How to Apply to City American School?

The admission process at City American School is simple and straightforward. To apply, fill out the registration form available on the school’s website. You can also submit the form physically by visiting the campus.

Please submit the form with authentic information. The school reserves the right to reject the application because of false information.

Parents also need to submit the following documents with the registration form:

  • Original and a photocopy of the candidate’s Emirates ID card
  • Original and a photocopy of father’s and mother’s Emirates ID cards
  • Six recent passport size photographs of the candidate (coloured photos)
  • A copy of the candidate’s birth certificate
  • A copy of the candidate’s passport (with a valid UAE residence visa for non-UAE nationals)
  • Family book (for UAE nationals)
  • A copy of the vaccination record of the candidate
  • Previous report card of the candidate
  • Original transfer certificate issued by the previous school with SIS number (must be attested)

Those applying from schools in the UAE need to get a stamp on the certificate by the Education Zone. Whereas, those applying from schools outside UAE need to get their certificates attested by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UAE Consulate in the country of the previous school.

Parents also need to pay AED 500 as the admission fee to proceed with the admission process. Afterwards, the school will contact the parents to bring their child for an assessment. Successful candidates will be offered admission at the City American School. If there is no vacancy, the school will place the name of the candidate on a waiting list.

The school offers various discounts to parents. Parents will get a 25% discount on the tuition fee of the younger child if two children are enrolled at City American School. In the case of three children, the school offers a 25% discount on the tuition fee of the second child and an 18% discount on the tuition fee of the third child. Scholarships at City American School Ajman

Currently, the school does not offer any scholarship programme to its students. The modest tuition fee makes up for the lack of scholarships. For the academic year 2021-2022, the school will offer a scholarship that will waive 50% of the tuition fee.
