American Gulf School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) candidate school and has incorporated the American Common Core Curriculum into its educational framework. Here is a brief overview of the American Gulf School curriculum:

Pre-Kindergarten (PreK)

In the PreK program at American Gulf School, the approach is centred on valuing and nurturing each child as a unique individual. The learning encompasses exploratory play, guided discovery, problem-solving and direct instruction in various core areas. 

Kindergarten (KG)

The KG1 and KG2 programs are designed to meet the developmental needs and interests of 3- to 6-year-old learners. The curriculum focuses on holistic learning, integrating social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. 

Primary School

American Gulf School's Primary School program caters to learners aged 6 to 11, combining six academic subjects - Arts, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies (including UAE), Language, Physical, Social and Personal Education. Classrooms are organised to facilitate free movement, with areas dedicated to reading, writing, art, construction, imaginative play, science, and mathematics. 

Middle School

The Middle School at American Gulf School aims to develop critical and reflective thinking skills. The curriculum is cross-curricular and emphasises the IB Middle Years Program (MYP). This program encourages practical connections between studies and the real world, allowing learners in Grades 9 and 10 to choose courses from six subject groups.

IB Grade

Once authorised, American Gulf School will offer two options in Grades 11 and 12 - the IB Diploma and IB Courses.

SPEA Rating

The Sharjah Private Educational Authority (SPEA) is a government educational regulatory body for Sharjah. SPEA has also started inspecting educational institutions, including schools in the emirates based on the six-point scale, shown below:

Academic Calendar for American Gulf School

The American Gulf School academic calendar comprises three terms:

First Term

The first term in American Gulf School starts on the 28th of August. There is a mid-term break on the 30th and 31st of October and winter break is from the 18th Dec till the 1st of January. 

Second Term

American Gulf School’s second term starts on 2nd January and ends on 31st March. The spring break is from 1st April to 14th April. 

Third Term

The third term begins on the 15th of April and ends on the 4th of July.

ADMISSION AND FEES

How to Apply to American Gulf School?

Parents can follow the five-step journey to complete their children's American Gulf School admission process.

  • Fill out and submit the online application form
  • Parents need to submit the child’s passport copy and recent school reports for students living in the UAE. Whereas, in the case of international students, more documents will be required
  • Pay the non-refundable and non-transferable fee of AED 525
  • The student will have to give an assessment, which American Gulf School’s admission committee will review
  • Students who pass the evaluation will be informed via email to secure their place by depositing the registration fee worth AED 1,000. The non-refundable, non-transferable registration fee of American Gulf School will be deducted from the tuition fee
