Barashi is a partially developed residential area on the Eastern side of Sharjah. The district has villas available for rent and sale. Villas dotted toward the northern side are already handed over to residents. According to Bayut’s Real Estate Market Report for 2018, Barashi tops the chart as the most popular area for buying villas. It is the third most popular area for renting villas in Sharjah.

Barashi offers a tranquil lifestyle to its residents. There are different lanes where villas are built, and each lane has a somewhat similar style of villas. Barashi is away from the main city-centric places of Sharjah and it lies close to E88, Al Dhaid Road. The residential villas have modern infrastructure and are mostly preferred by families.
It is the favourite spot of people looking to rent out villas in Sharjah most probably due to its affordability. The district is well connected with Ajman and Dubai and seems like a perfect choice for people who have to commute regularly to other emirates.
PROPERTIES IN BARASHI
Barashi is well-connected with Dubai and Ajman. It is a 5-minute drive away from Sharjah International Airport and 10 minutes’ drive away from the Khawaneej and Ajman.
When it comes to properties in Barashi, one can only find villas for rent and sale. Villas are characterised by 2, 3, 4 and 5-bedroom units. A 3-bedroom villa covers an area of around 3,000 sq. ft. to 5,000 sq. ft. The more spacious 5-bedroom villas cover an area of 6,000 sq. ft. to 13,000 sq. ft.
These well-designed villas have a contemporary exterior. Almost all villas are 2-storey. On the ground floor, there is a living room which is connected to the door that leads to the small backyard. The bedroom on the first floor is connected with a balcony which is spacious enough to accommodate a small coffee table and chairs. All houses have a majlis room, a huge dining area, a living room, a laundry room, and a separate maid’s room with a discrete entrance. The kitchen has modern equipment, marble flooring and fitted cabinets. The en-suite master bedroom has a built-in wardrobe as well. Villas have a central air-conditioning system and central heating system. Some units have Venetian blinds for the kitchen and staircase. The garden has artificial grass and a dedicated plant area. The villas also have an intercom, satellite/cable TV and broadband internet.
The rental trend for a 3-bedroom villas lies between AED 75k to AED 95k. These 3-bedroom units are not available on sale as for now. Rent of 5-bedroom villas ranges from AED 90k to AED 135k and their sale prices fluctuate between AED 2.3M to AED 3.5M. A 4-bedroom villa has a rental trend between AED 85k to AED 95k. Rent has to be paid via cheques on a yearly basis. Some realtors ask for an additional security deposit of 5% and services charges of 5%.
TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING SPACES IN BARASHI
Apart from the garage, residents can also park their vehicle outside their villa. There are ample parking spaces in Barashi where visitors can park their vehicles.
Barashi is well-connected to Ajman, Dubai and main city areas of Sharjah. Commuting through a private car is the most convenient choice because Ajman and Sharjah do not have many public buses. Barashi is one area that lacks public transport. The nearest bus stop from the area is Union Square Bus Station – Dubai. Hailing a taxi is the best commuting option.

SUPERMARKETS NEAR BARASHI
There are a number of supermarkets near Barashi. For daily grocery needs, residents can head out to Al Ateen Supermarket which is less than 2 km from Barashi. Taier Al Madina Supermarket is the next closely dotted supermarket at a 7-minute drive. There are four supermarkets in the neighbouring area of Al Saja less than 8km away - Safa Al Khaleej Supermarket (1 and 2), Hibat Al Madina Supermarket, and Noor Al Saja Supermarket.
CHURCHES, TEMPLES AND MOSQUES IN BARASHI
A number of churches are near Barashi. At almost a 22-minute drive away near Abu Daniq are Church of the Living God, Saint Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Orthodox Church, Amazing Grace Church & Ministries, Grace Evangelical Church, Orthodox Church and Christian Fellowship Church.
Residents who wish to visit the temple will have to travel towards Dubai as there are no temples in Sharjah. The nearest temple is SMVS near Al Qusais (Dubai) but fortunately, it is less than 30 minutes away from Barashi.
Sharjah is home to many beautifully built mosques. There are many such mosques in Barashi. Barashi Mosque is on the premises, apart from it, 8 minutes away is Equestrian Club Mosque in the neighbouring area. Old Muzairah Mosque, Hamza Ibn Amr Alansari Mosque, and Omair Ibn Abi Waqas Mosque are less than 10 km away.
SCHOOLS NEAR BARASHI
There are many schools near Barashi such as Al Rowayda School, New Our Own Private High School, Sharjah Indian School (for boys), and Lucton School. New World American Private School, Al Ansar International School, Al Wahda Private School, and Sharjah Ambassador School are within the 20-minutes distance. Al Ansar International School follows the British Curriculum for science subjects and the MoE curriculum for other subjects. Al Wahda Private School follows the American curriculum. Sharjah Ambassador School and Sharjah Indian School are two schools that follow the Indian curriculum. For pre-schoolers, Barashi Nursery is a good option.
CLINICS AND HOSPITALS IN BARASHI
There are no hospitals and clinics in Barashi. Residents have to drive for 16 kilometres to reach Thumbay Hospital which is the nearest tertiary care medical facility. Al Qassimi Hospital, a 19-minute drive away, is the next closest hospital near Barashi.
The nearest pharmacy is Al Sama Al Zarqa Pharmacy in Al Saja. Bin Sina Pharmacy is also not too far. It takes an 11-minute drive to reach there from Barashi.
SHOPPING, DINING AND NIGHTLIFE
There are no restaurants, bars, and malls in Barashi, but residents can head out to neighbouring areas to enjoy their leisure time.
MALLS NEAR BARASHI
Residents who want to shop and dine out at the same place, Safeer Market/Mall should be their ultimate destination. It is 17 minutes away and has numerous eateries, branded retail stores and other recreational options. It is near University City which is not too far from the area. Mega Mall which is popular among citizens of Sharjah is less than 30 minutes away. It is one of the largest malls near Barashi that spans over 800,000 sq. ft. This mall has many local and international brands, Novo Cinemas and a family entertainment centre as well.
RESTAURANTS NEAR BARASHI
There are no cafeterias or restaurants in Barashi but there are a few in the neighbouring localities. Nad Wasit Fast Food and Masar Al Madinah Restaurant are not more than 6 minutes away and both restaurants have an easy-on-pocket menu. Some small cafeterias and restaurant such as Al Fali Restaurant, Bait Al Bukhari, Al Jareena Cafeteria, and Najmat Al Sajaah are marked in the nearby area of Al Sajaa. High-end restaurants like Zait Al Zaitoon, Crisol Restaurant & Lounge and C.Taste are 17 minutes away near Muwailih Commercial.
BEACHES NEAR BARASHI
Barashi is a suburban district of Sharjah which is dotted at quite a distance from Arabian Gulf and popular beaches of the city. The closest beach is Sharjah Beach stretching over 3.3 km. This beach near Barashi is part of Sharjah Urban Planning Council and will go through a major transformation to become a top leisure destination of the city.
LEISURE ACTIVITIES AND NOTABLE LANDMARKS
For enjoying nightlife and bars over the weekend, residents have to head out to Dubai. There is a chain of bars in Dubai which lie almost 30 minutes away from Barashi. The bars are named Jack’s Bar & Grill, McGettigan’s, Jules Bar, La Fabrique, The Old Pub, Karaoke Bar and The Lounge Bar. For people who enjoy watching movies on the big screen, Cinema City is dotted at Al Khawaneej in Arabian Centre. It takes a 21 minutes’ drive to reach there.
Sharjah International Airport and Sharjah National Park are two landmarks close to Barashi at a 14-minute and an 11-minute distance, respectively.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES, FITNESS AND BEAUTY
Sharjah National Park is the largest park in the city. and it spreads over 630,000 sq. ft. area. This park offers regular park amenities including a play area for kids, barbeque area, and picnic area. It is just 11 minutes away making it a frequently visited park by residents of the area. There is Professionals Academy for Soccer at an 8-minute drive.
There are no gyms in Barashi. The nearest one is 15 minutes away near Industrial Area 18 of Sharjah namely, Texas Gym. There are also no salons inside Barashi. Ladies have to drive for 15 minutes to reach N Style Beauty Lounge and Hind Alamiri Beauty Salon in the neighbouring area of Qarayen. Men can head out to Al Goaz district to find Hair Concept Salon at an 18-minute drive.

Barashi is a favourite location for renting and buying villas in Sharjah. However, the area lacks schools, supermarkets, malls, and clinics at this point in time. The rental trend makes properties affordable but the sales price is not lesser than other areas of Sharjah.
