Strategically positioned between Al Wahda Street (E11) and King Faisal Street, Abu Shagara is a residential community in the central region of Sharjah. Along with the famous Abu Shagara Park at the centre, the area houses car showrooms, automobile workshops, retail centres and supermarkets. Residents are provided with parking spaces within the residential buildings. However, parking in other areas of the neighbourhood can be a hassle as there are only a few parking spaces.
On the other hand, public transportation in Abu Shagara is convenient due to bus stops present in the area. Most of the bus stops are located on King Faisal Street, towards the north of the community. If you are looking to catch a taxi instead then that is also quite easy.

SUPERMARKETS IN ABU SHAGARA
The supermarkets in Abu Shagara are present on almost every corner making grocery shopping easier for every resident. Small grocery shops such as Al Urooj Grocery or Al Urooj Supermarket as it is also called, Al Mustashar Grocery and Al Madinah Al Khadhra Grocery can be found in Abu Shagara.
Residents can find a wide range of produce at City Centre Supermarket or as it is also called New City Centre Supermarket, Choitrams and Venicia Supermarket. Apart from this, Al Madina Supermarket, Kraz Supermarket, Amber Supermarket and a few others are located within the community.
CHURCHES, TEMPLES AND MOSQUES IN ABU SHAGARA
The mosques in Abu Shagara are evenly spread out. These include Habbab Ibn Al Munther Mosque, Al Bara'a Ibn Malik Mosque and Al Salam Mosque. Also, the famous Al Noor Mosque is a short drive away from Abu Shagara. Constructed with classic Ottoman-inspired designs, the much-visited mosque is characterised by its captivating architecture. The religious site is one of the most favoured destinations by tourists. The beautiful mosque also hosts guided tours arranged by the Sharjah Centre for Cultural Communication.
The Christian community members can find several churches near Abu Shagara. A cluster of churches in Al Yarmook are located about a 10-minute drive away. These include St. Michael’s Catholic Church, the Russian Orthodox Church and St. Martin’s Anglican Church. As for temples, there are none in Sharjah currently. However, the residents can visit Shiva Temple and Shrinath Ji Temple in Dubai. The commute to the temples from Abu Shagara to the Bur Dubai area will take around 25 minutes. The Sikh Gurudwara and Sindhi Gurdarbar are also located in the Bur Dubai area.
SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES NEAR ABU SHAGARA
One can find a few nurseries and schools near Abu Shagara, in the neighbouring areas. For younger children, the parents can decide between Al Lulu Nursery and Al Farha Nursery; both are a short distance away from Abu Shagara.
Following the Indian curriculum, Sharjah Indian School is a 6 to 10-minute drive from the neighbourhood. Right next to it is Happy Home English School, which follows the British Curriculum. Apart from these, parents can also opt for Progressive English School and Radiant School in the nearby community of Al Yarmook.
For higher education, the Emirates Institute for Banking & Financial Studies is a short drive away. Moreover, University City Sharjah is a 20-minute drive away from Abu Shagara. One can find various renowned universities there including the American University of Sharjah, the University of Sharjah and Skyline University College.

Aster Clinic, Thumbay Clinic and Dr. Ashok Menon Medical Center are all located within the community. There is also Right Medical Centre which offers specialized healthcare services including dentistry, plastic surgery, gynaecology and obstetrics.
There are few hospitals near Abu Shagara as well. These include Medcare Hospital and Sharjah Corniche Hospital, both of which are known to provide premium treatments.
Abu Shagara is positioned between Al Wahda Street and King Faisal Street. The neighbouring districts are Bu Daniq, Al Nud and Corniche Al Buhaira. You can reach Al Mahatah, Al Yarmook, Industrial Area and Al Ghubaiba with a short drive.

MALLS IN ABU SHAGRA
There are a few shopping centres in the area, while residents can also find a few malls near Abu Shagara. The 4-storey mixed-use centre, Mega Mall Sharjah, is a 7-minute drive from the community. The massive mall features local and international brands along with restaurants, an indoor family theme park and a cinema.
City Centre SHarjah is another mall within proximity for the residents. It is 10 minutes away, the mall offers a range of high-end retail options. Located on King Faisal Street, residents can also visit Safeer Market for a shopping spree.

You can find various restaurants in Abu Shagara including several Asian and South Asian eateries.
The Indian restaurant Malabar Regency Restaurant attracts many diners daily. Other restaurants include Kamat Restaurant, Bab Abu Shagarah Restaurant and Cancun Restaurant. Apart from these, Shakespeare and Co. and Lebanese restaurant Zaroob are a short drive away. For a quick bite or takeaways, the residents can also head to McDonald’s, Dunkin Donuts, Pizza Hut and Krispy Kreme. They can all be reached in less than 10 minutes.
BEACHES NEAR ABU SHAGARA
The beaches near Abu Shagara include Al Khan Beach and Al Mamzar Beach Park. Al Khan Beach is close to Abu Shagara, it is a short 14-minute drive away. The beach offers various sports activities including kite surfing, banana boat rides, parasailing and water sports. Not only this, but the visitors can also savour a variety of food items and fresh beverages while relaxing by the beach.
Al Mamzar Beach Park is preferred for picnicking and barbecuing and it is 20 minutes away from Abu Shagara.

Abu Shagara is close to various popular venues as well. One of the most famous mosques of Sharjah, Al Noor Mosque is 10 minutes away. Located on Corniche Street alongside Khaled Lagoon, Al Majaz Park is also a 10-minute drive away. The waterfront park has a built-up area of 231,000 sq. ft., boasting spectacular sceneries.
