Industrial Area is a large community in Sharjah and it accounts for 16% of the GDP of the emirate, behind the real estate and commercial sector. Industrial Area Sharjah represents the second largest industry that contributes to the economic growth and development of Sharjah.

Muwailih Commercial is also a part of Industrial Area, it lies to the east of the community on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311).

Industrial Area 12 is popular for housing several automobile showrooms and workshops of leading brands such as BMW, Lexus, Mercedes Benz, Toyota, Peugeot and Land Rover/Range Rover.

Industrial Area 5 is home to government facilities such as the Sharjah Municipality Centers Department, Sharjah Municipality Tenancy Contract Department, SEWA Customer Happiness Centre and Sharjah Water Treatment Plant. It also houses Sharjah Cricket Stadium and Sharjah Sports Club.

Four major roads serve the development and link it to other important areas of Sharjah. These include Al Wahda Street (E11) that runs parallel to the western boundary and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) that stretches along the eastern boundary.

Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Road (S121) and Maliha Road (S112) horizontally cut through Industrial Area, while the Sharjah-Dubai (S102) highway borders Industrial Area from the south.
