Falaj Al Mualla (Fali Al Mualla or Al Fali) is part of the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain and was its water source in the past. It is about 50 km from Umm Al Quwain city and is not directly connected to Umm Al Quwain city. Falaj Al Mualla was one of the most beautiful places for summer recreation (Qayd) for the people of the Emirates, as it is distinguished by the cultivation of palm trees, vegetables, lemons and mangoes. The name Falaj Al Mualla is derived from “Falaj”, which is the water that springs from the ground or mountains and flows in streams, and “Al Mualla” is the family of the rulers of Umm Al Quwain. The water of the falaj runs on the side of the valley, so agriculture is widespread in Falaj Al Mualla due to the fertility of its soil and the availability of fresh water. Despite Falaj Al Mualla’s fame in the agricultural field, it has grown and developed and transformed from a village into a modern city with many educational, health and cultural facilities that serve citizens. Due to the location and climate of Falaj Al Mualla, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan built a palace for himself in this area and he used to visit it frequently.
