GEMS Westminster School Ras Al Khaimah (WSR) was established in 2013 in Seih Al Uraibi, Ras Al Khaima. A part of the globally renowned GEMS Education Group, GEMS WSR delivers the internationally recognised National Curriculum for England

WSR conducts classes in a co-educational setup from Kindergarten to Grade 12. WSR has a dedicated sensory room, intervention room and also conducts push-in sessions, pull-out sessions and more. COVID-19 Protocols

To minimise the spread of coronavirus, the government of UAE decided to reopen schools in August for the academic year 2021 – 2022 with safety guidelines. Similarly, keeping in mind the health and safety of students and staff members, the Ministry of Education has designed strict SOPs for schools to follow while they are open.

  • No student, teacher or staff member will join the school before testing negative for COVID-19. 
  • All students and teachers must get their body temperature checked in the morning before entering the school premises.
  • Classrooms will be set up to accommodate reduced capacity. Student desks will be set at a safe distance (1 meters); classrooms will use physical markings to ensure desks remain in the correct locations.
  • Lockers are permitted as long as physical distancing measures are not compromised and in such a way that each locker is designated to a specific student (alternated and not shared). 
  • Certain play sections/areas should be closed (i.e. dress up sections, indoor soft play areas, reading corners with soft furniture). Open spaces should include furniture and equipment that is easy to clean.
  • Students below 6 years (below Grade 1) are not required to wear masks. 
  •  Students of Grade 1 and above, teachers and school staff members are required to bring a minimum of two (2) masks to school each day.
  • Buses may run at full capacity but with safety measures in place. 
  • Seating arrangements will be clearly marked out in canteen areas; no students will be permitted to sit directly adjacent or next to one another. A physical distance of 2 meters should be kept in canteen areas.
  • Schools can operate a pre-selected and pre-packed lunch service, with no live cooking taking place at school. 
  • School events, extracurricular activities, after-school clubs and activities are allowed with approved protocols in place.
  • Schools shall resume field trips, holiday camps and sports events according to the approved protocols.
  • Physical education will continue, including access to swimming pools.

GEMS Westminster School RAK Curriculum

GEMS Westminster School Ras Al Khaimah delivers National Curriculum for England (NCE). Through the curriculum, students are prepared to take the International General Certificate of Secondary Education(IGCSE) and A-Level Examinations conducted by the Universities of Cambridge and London (UK). 

The curriculum is tailored to suit the individual needs and interests of the students belonging to each grade level. WSR employs highly trained professionals that make use of the latest teaching methods and technology so as to stimulate intellectual development in each child

Distance Learning at GEMS Westminster School RAK

The Ministry of Education has authorised schools to offer face-to-face learning without a distance-learning option. However, schools shall continue to provide distance learning to students exempt from physical attendance, those who opt for distance learning or have high-risk medical conditions and/or who are 16 years of age and not vaccinated.

Academic Calendar for GEMS Westminster School RAK

The academic calendar at Westminster School Ras Al Khaimah is split into three terms and takes place as follows:

  • First Term commences in the last week of August and concludes in the second week of December, followed by a 3-week winter break. 
  • Second Term commences in the first week of January and ends in the last week of March, followed by a 2-week spring holiday.
  • Third Term commences in the second week of April and concludes in the first week of July, followed by a 2-month summer vacation.

Admission and Fees

How to Apply to GEMS Westminster School RAK?

Being a highly sought-after school, WSR receives a number of applications. The school attempts to accommodate students depending on the availability of seats in each grade level. Prospective parents are advised to apply as soon as possible as the school operates on a first-come-first-served basis. 

The admissions process to enrol your child at GEMS WSR are as follows:

  • WSR organises school tours every day at 10:00 am. Parents who wish to visit the campus prior to enrolling their child at the school can take part in the tour. No prior booking is required.
  • Fill and submit the Online Student Enquiry and Registration form to initiate registration. Parents will then receive an Enquiry Number which they are required to print a copy of.
  • Upon registration, submit the following documents:
    • 1 copy of the child’s passport with the UAE residence visa.
    • 1 copy of child’s and parents’ Emirates ID cards
    • Original Emirates ID cards of child and parents
    • 1 copy of Family Book/Khalasat Alqaid (for UAE Nationals only)
    • 2 copies of child’s Vaccination Record
    • 3 recent passport size photographs of the child
    • Student SIS number from the previous school (applicable to all schools in UAE excluding Abu Dhabi Educational Council and KHDA Dubai)
    • 2 copies of the school report from the previous school
    • Original Transfer Certificate (duly attested, before the start of school)
  • The school processes the application only upon submission of required documents and payment of AED 500 registration fees. This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable but will be adjusted with the tuition fee if the student enrols with the school.
  • Parents are required to share details of any special educational/medical needs if applicable. 
  • The admission conducts age-related screening and assessments to determine the eligibility of the applicant. 
  • Upon completion of the screening and assessment process, the school may either offer the student a seat, place them on a waiting list or deny enrolment, based on the student’s performance.

School Transportation at GEMS WSR

GEMS Westminster RAK has outsourced its transportation services to Bright Bus Transport (BBT), which is a subsidiary of STS LLC. The transportation service covers areas within Ras Al Khaimah spreading from Mina Al Arab to Al Jazeera Al Hamra

The school has a well-equipped medical facility available on campus. The clinic is run by a highly qualified full-time nurse that tends to the medical needs and emergencies of the students. 

The medical clinic provides two evacuation chairs for injured students as well as 2 high-grade machines to manage any unfortunate occurrences of cardiac arrests.
