Al Zuhour Private School in Sharjah was established in 1995. Following the American curriculum, it offers classes from KG-1 to Grade 12 in a co-educational setup. The school campus moved to a new location in 2001. Currently, there are more than 3,000 enrolled students with the majority belonging to Arab nationalities.

Oud Al Muteena is a residential community close to the Dubai-Sharjah border offering a mix of villas and apartments. Al Mizhar is located in the southernmost region of Dubai, close to the emirate of Sharjah. The reasonably large neighbourhood is divided into two sub-communities: Al Mizhar 1 and Al Mizhar 2. Residential properties in the district mainly include villas for sale and rent.

Muhaisnah 4 is a sub-community of Muhaisnah that lies close to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E-311). The locality offers a range of villas and apartments.

CAMPUS OF AL ZUHOUR PRIVATE SCHOOL

Al Zuhour Private School, Sharjah moved to a new, modern campus in 2001. It now has excellent facilities including well-equipped science labs and computer labs, a well-stocked library and playgrounds.

Practical work is especially important for science subjects. And keeping that in mind, Al Zuhour School has designed state-of-the-art science labs for Physics, Biology and Chemistry. Computer Science and Information Technology are taught using five state-of-the-arts computer labs with more than 150 computers. The school is also an approved exam centre for the International Computer Driving License (ICDL) exam.

The school library has a vast collection of academic textbooks as well as other genres. There are over 5,000 books to facilitate students and staff members. Interested students can also access ebooks available in the school library.

To support extracurricular and co-curricular activities, boys and girls have separate playgrounds at Al Zuhour School. There are different playgrounds for Kindergarten, Middle, Junior and Senior level students.

As a NEASC candidate and a Cognia School, Al Zuhour’s curriculum is based on the New York StateStandards education system. The school follows Common Core standards in English, Language, Arts and Math subjects while the Next General Science Standards (NGSS) applies to science. The Ministry of Education curriculum guidelines is followed for Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies.

DISTANCE LEARNING AT AL ZUHOUR PRIVATE SCHOOL

Al Zuhour Private School strives to provide an engaging and easy distance learning program for students. The school understands that learning in the classroom with fellow students is quite different from learning at home and can be difficult. Therefore, teachers and all stakeholders reviewed the policy and came up with easy and engaging activities.

The school is using Zoom and Microsoft team platform for e-learning. Students and parents can easily see the tutorial video on the school’s website. Few other apps and platforms that have been used by the school are:

These are the most advanced platforms used for e-learning. Students are asked to participate fully and submit their assignments and homework at a given time to make the distance learning program helpful. In case of any query or confusion, students can communicate with their teachers and ask for help. Parents must provide a comfortable learning environment during online classes and establish a routine for students. They should also check student’s progress daily and keep track of learning outcomes.

AL ZUHOUR PRIVATE SCHOOL ACADEMIC CALENDAR

August 30 is the first day of school. Winter break starts on 13th December and lasts till 3rd January. Classes resume from 4th January with the beginning of the second term. Spring break lasts from 28th March until 8th April. Classes resume from 11th April with the beginning of the third term. 1st July is the last day of school for students.

After submitting the admission form, applicants have to appear for the entrance exam and clear the interview. The entrance exam tests student’s knowledge in English, Mathematics and Arabic Language.

Documents required along with the admission form include:

  • Three recent coloured passport size photographs of the student
  • Copy of the birth certificate
  • Copy of the immunisation card
  • Copy of student’s passport with a valid visa (for expats)
  • Copy of the family book (for UAE citizens) or copy of the mother’s family book log
  • Student’s original Emirates ID
  • Students’ last report card and transfer certificate
  • Parents Emirates ID
  • The medical file of students from the previous school.

If a student is coming from a school located in the Sharjah zone, the transfer certificate has to be attested by the last school attended. This is for Grade 2 to Grade 9 students.

Last two report cards are required for students of Grade 10 to Grade 12.
Students coming from another emirate must get their transfer certificate attested by the last school attended.

Students moving from a different curriculum school have to submit their last two final report cards. This rule is for students interested in joining Grade 2 to Grade 9.

For students coming from a school that is based outside the UAE, the documents should be attested by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UAE Consulate in the country of origin. Applicants of Grade 10 and 12 should also submit the last two reports cards.

Al Zuhour offers a discount on tuition fee to the second child. Here’s the breakdown of the discount policy:

  • First child: No discount
  • Second child: AED 500
  • Third child: AED 800
  • Fourth child and onwards: AED 1,000

KG-1 students get a 5% concession on the tuition fee. The fee can be paid through Skiply.

Parents who make full fee payments (including the cost of books, uniform and transportation) in cash are eligible for a concession on the tuition fee. Here’s how the cash payment discount is calculated:

  • Payments made during June and July: 4% discount
  • Payment made during August: 3% discount
  • Payment made until 15th September: 2% discount

Students are encouraged to have fresh juices, milk, sandwiches, fruit and other healthy foods for lunch. Use of gum, potato chips, sweets and soda is strictly prohibited. Students are not allowed to share food with others.

Kindergarten students get a 25-minute snack break, twice a day. Parents should pack healthy snacks such as yoghurt, fruits, sandwiches from home.

The school offers transport services to students. Bus administrators ensure the safety of children during the commute. They report misbehaviour and misconduct to the school officials, and students who do not follow the rules can face suspension.

Students should reach their designated pick up point five minutes before the scheduled time as buses will not wait. Consuming food on the bus is not allowed.

Students should only travel on their designated bus. Bus assistants are not allowed to receive and deliver any verbal or written message from parents..

Zuhour School Sharjah takes students on field trips multiple times during the academic year to improve their knowledge. Students who go on field trips should have a signed permission slip from their parents.

MEDICAL CARE AT AL ZUHOUR PRIVATE SCHOOL

Al Zuhour School has a clinic that provides first aid services whenever needed. Students who need to visit the school clinic can take permission from their section supervisor. There is a doctor at the school clinic as well.
