CAMPUS OF AL ZUHOUR PRIVATE SCHOOL

Al Zuhour Private School, Sharjah moved to a new, modern campus in 2001. It now has excellent facilities including well-equipped science labs and computer labs, a well-stocked library and playgrounds.

Practical work is especially important for science subjects. And keeping that in mind, Al Zuhour School has designed state-of-the-art science labs for Physics, Biology and Chemistry. Computer Science and Information Technology are taught using five state-of-the-arts computer labs with more than 150 computers. The school is also an approved exam centre for the International Computer Driving License (ICDL) exam.

The school library has a vast collection of academic textbooks as well as other genres. There are over 5,000 books to facilitate students and staff members. Interested students can also access ebooks available in the school library.

To support extracurricular and co-curricular activities, boys and girls have separate playgrounds at Al Zuhour School. There are different playgrounds for Kindergarten, Middle, Junior and Senior level students.

Covid-19 Protocols

To minimise the spread of coronavirus, the government of UAE decided to reopen schools in August for the academic year 2021 – 2022 with safety guidelines. Similarly, keeping in mind the health and safety of students and staff members, the Ministry of Education has designed strict SOPs for schools to follow while they are open.

  • No student, teacher or staff member will join the school before testing negative for COVID-19.
  • All students and teachers must get their body temperature checked in the morning before entering the school premises.
  • Classrooms will be set up to accommodate reduced capacity. Student desks will be set at a safe distance (1 meters); classrooms will use physical markings to ensure desks remain in the correct locations.
  • Lockers are permitted as long as physical distancing measures are not compromised and in such a way that each locker is designated to a specific student (alternated and not shared).
  • Certain play sections/areas should be closed (i.e. dress up sections, indoor soft play areas, reading corners with soft furniture). Open spaces should include furniture and equipment that is easy to clean.
  • Students below 6 years (below Grade 1) are not required to wear masks.
  • Students of Grade 1 and above, teachers and school staff members are required to bring a minimum of two (2) masks to school each day.
  • Buses may run at full capacity but with safety measures in place.
  • Seating arrangements will be clearly marked out in canteen areas; no students will be permitted to sit directly adjacent or next to one another. A physical distance of 2 meters should be kept in canteen areas.
  • Schools can operate a pre-selected and pre-packed lunch service, with no live cooking taking place at school.
  • School events, extracurricular activities, after-school clubs and activities are allowed with approved protocols in place.
  • Schools can organize field trips, holiday camps and sports events according to the approved protocols.
  • Physical education will continue, including access to swimming pools**.**

As a NEASC candidate and a Cognia School, Al Zuhour’s curriculum is based on the New York State Standards education system. The school follows Common Core standards in English, Language, Arts and Math subjects while the Next General Science Standards (NGSS) applies to science. The Ministry of Education curriculum guidelines is followed for Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies.

DISTANCE LEARNING AT AL ZUHOUR PRIVATE SCHOOL

The Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management team in Sharjah, in coordination with Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA), has allowed all private schools in the emirate to resume 100% in-class learning. However, students who are sick can get an exemption; they must submit a relevant health certificate to continue with remote learning.

AL ZUHOUR PRIVATE SCHOOL ACADEMIC CALENDAR

  • The first term starts in the last week of August and ends in the second week of December, followed by a 3-week winter vacation.
  • The second term starts in the first week of January and ends in the last week of March, followed by a 2-week spring break.

Admission and Fees

HOW TO APPLY TO AL ZUHOUR PRIVATE SCHOOL?

Parents interested in Al Zuhour Private School admission have to fill the Enquiry form form available on the school’s website and submit it along with the mandatory documents. This can be done online or by visiting the school. You can also book a tour to check out the facilities. The school will reach out to you in case of a vacancy and schedule a meeting for next steps. Al Zuhour Private School give priority to siblings who are students of the school.

Parent must fill New Registration Form for new students or fill re-registration form for current students.

After submitting the admission form, applicants have to appear for the entrance exam and clear the interview. The entrance exam tests student’s knowledge in English, Mathematics and Arabic Language.

Documents required along with the admission form include:

  • Recent passport-size photographs (coloured)
  • A copy of birth certificate
  • A copy of vaccination record
  • A copy of student's passport and a valid UAE residence visa (for non-UAE citizens)
  • A copy of family book (for UAE citizens) or copy of mother's family log (Emirati Mothers)
  • A copy of student's Emirate ID
  • A copy of Emirate IDs of both parents
  • Student's medical record
  • Last report card and transfer certificate

Please note that if students coming to this school are coming from another school in Sharjah than students in Grade 2 to Grade 9 should submit a transfer certificate attested by the last school. Students of Grades 10 to 12 must attest their transfer certificate and last two years of academic record by KHDA.

Those coming from other emirates in the UAE have slightly different requirements. Students of Grades 2 to 9 should get their transfer certificates attested by their school and educational body. While students in Grade 10 and above need to submit a transfer certificate and last two years of academic records attested by the education body of that emirate.

Meanwhile, international students must submit their transfer certificates and last two years of academic record attested by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UAE consulate where the last school was located. Students in Grades 10 to 12 have to submit proof of equivalency and students in Grades 1 to 8 need to pass the CAT4 test.

Students coming from different curricula and did not study any Ministerial or governmental curriculum have to submit a certificate of equivalency.

Al Zuhour offers a discount on tuition fee to the second child. Here’s the breakdown of the discount policy:

  • First child: No discount
  • Second child: AED 500
  • Third child: AED 800
  • Fourth child and onwards: AED 1,000

KG-1 students get a 10% concession on the tuition fee. The fee can be paid through Skiply.

The tuition fee can be paid in three instalments:

  • 1st instalment, which is 40% via cash, is due on September 2022
  • 2nd instalment, 30% via check, is due on December 2022
  • 3rd instalment, 30% via check, is due on March 2023

Students are encouraged to have fresh juices, milk, sandwiches, fruit and other healthy foods for lunch. Use of gum, potato chips, sweets and soda is strictly prohibited. Students are not allowed to share food with others.

The school offers transport services to students. Bus administrators ensure the safety of children during the commute. They report misbehaviour and misconduct to the school officials, and students who do not follow the rules can face suspension.

Students should reach their designated pick up point five minutes before the scheduled time as buses will not wait. Consuming food on the bus is not allowed.

Students should only travel on their designated bus. Bus assistants are not allowed to receive and deliver any verbal or written message from parents.
