Slowly but surely, the weather is cooling down and that means you’ve officially run out of excuses to exercise! Luckily, there’s a tonne of outdoor activities in Dubai and fitness events in Abu Dhabi and the other emirates, for you and the entire family!
Ignite Pink is Punk Swim:Run
October is breast cancer awareness month and this fantastic event for all ages raises funds for this very worthy cause. Adults and kids can participate solo or in teams of two, in a swim followed by a run. In addition to this, more casual participants, can take part in a beach and pavement fun run – there’s even a prize for the best dressed!

Full Moon Yoga
What could be better than yoga by the breaking waves, under the full moon? What about another half an hour of guided meditation when you’re done? This monthly yoga event is perfect for intermediate practitioners.

This free event takes place all over the world, attended by yogis and wannabe-yogis who will spend two hours performing 108 different hatha yoga sun salutations, led by qualified instructors.

To really put your physical and mental health to the test, sign up for this obstacle course like no other. This popular annual event has courses for all ages and fitness levels – what’s more, you can enter the challenge solo or with a team!

The first ever Dubai Fitness Challenge will be kicking off with a jam-packed Weekend Carnival. In a bid to get the people of Dubai moving, the weekend (and 30-day long fitness challenge) will be full of outdoor fitness activities and events that are sure to appeal to everyone!

Pink Ladies Games
This one’s for the women (although anyone can come and cheer them on)! To raise funds for breast cancer awareness, teams of 3 to 5 women compete in ultra-fun challenges that test teamwork, focus and wits! The best part is, you really don’t need to be sporty to take part, it’s all about having fun and supporting a good cause.

Dubai City Swim
As far as outdoor activities in Dubai go, this one is a winner! If you love swimming in the sparkling blue waters of the Arabian Gulf, this one’s for you! Grab your swimsuit and join the Global Swim Series for a picturesque (and adventurous) swim by the Burj Al Arab. And don’t worry about safety – experienced kayakers will be paddling alongside swimmers all the way.

Get fit with the entire family at TrainZSC! From stair climbing challenges to bouncy castles to even onsite health checks, this event is one of the easiest and most convenient ways to get fit in the capital.

Keeping with the theme of gorgeous backdrops to keep fit in, Activelife by Daman is bringing back its popular, water-based event. Perfectly suited to all ages, participants will swim in the picturesque Emirates Palace Lagoon then run through the grounds of the palace.

Rather than marathons and swimming, this beach festival unites lovers of Kizomba, an Angolan genre of dance. This three-day long festival/party will host workshops by well-respected instructors, not to mention DJs to let you put what you’ve learned to the test! Al Ain Cycle Race
Fans of two (non-motorised) wheels will ride it out in races finishing at the famous Jebel Hafeet. Hosted by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, cyclists have a choice of 47km or 67km loops…it’s a wonderful way to start the weekend!
