The MPF (which stands for Meaning – Pronunciation – Form) approach involves defining the word’s meaning, its different grammatical forms (singular\/plural\/collocations\/spelling, etc) and how it’s pronounced. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experts suggest learning words in categories or themes while following the MPF approach. Also, it would be a great practice to use a personalised example to memorise the word better during this exercise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A great mobile app with similar tools that you can refer to on the go is WordReference<\/a><\/strong>. This app offers a wider variety of different English accents (standard, British, Irish, Standard American, and so on), synonyms, examples of the word in sentences and more.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Learning to sound natural\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In addition, knowing certain collocations, or words that go together, is vital to improving your speaking skills. For example, \u201cdo mistakes\u201d is incorrect; the correct collocation would be \u201cmake mistakes\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also advisable to grasp expressions, or colloquial phrases<\/em>, used by English speakers. Some examples of these are \u201cbeats me\u201d, \u201cjolly good\u201d, \u201cthat\u2019s rich\u201d, and so on.
